smakdown61
After finally being able to get the install dvd to recongnize my partition, the damn thing gave me an install error right in the middle. Apparently my dvd is messed up because it didn't passed the disk check, but i felt like trying the install anyway. Im tryin to think if its a bad burn or maybe the torrent file i downloaded was bad. I know you guys say to avoid the prepatched iso torrents but the prepatched 8f1111a Jas 4.2b iso was the only 10.4.3 i could find with a decent amount of seeds. Has anyone successfully used this file before? or should i just keep searching for the .dmg and patch it myself? jbjonas
so we meet again Sorry to see that the image didn't work. You are right though, there are a lot less seeds out there now that that file isn't the newest... I suggest going on an ISO hunt. That site compiles multiple trackers, and will let you download from seeds on many different trackers. smakdown61
Yeah i did that....i think im gonna give the patched 10.4.3 iso torrent another shot, this time using an external burner attached to my comp to burn it, rather that risking the file getting messed up during transfer. So many wasted dvd's....do you know if it will still work if i used a dvd-rw? jbjonas
To tell you the truth, I have never gotten a definitive answer on whether or not RW disks are OK. I have always heard that they are more trouble then they are worth. (you should be able to find DVD-Rs pretty cheap in a spindle of 25 or 50 though). Cool- I forgot that you transfered it to a friends PC to burn it last time, right? so the md5 sum you posted was from the original you downloaded, not once it was on the other PC, right? I suppose it would be interesting to know the checksum of the file on your friend's PC that you burned from - assuming they didn't delete it to save space by now. Good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10282-installation-error/#findComment-64282 Share on other sites
