I discovered the osx86 1 week ago, and I have done several tries with my Asus F3JC:

1st. I tried kalyway 10.5.1 and then updating it through the comboupdate 10.5.2 (almost everything worked)

2nd. I tried clean install of kalyway 10.5.2 dvd because I guess it was better than what I had before (almost everything worked)

3rd Now I decided to format the entire hd and install windows, ubuntu and kalyway 10.5.2 dvd.

I got almost everything working, but unfortunately I have discovered that it says I don't have processors and only 1 thread, but I'm using a core 2 duo processor!

That's what it says:

Nombre del modelo: Mac Pro

Identificador del modelo: MacPro3,1

Nombre del procesador: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processors Speed: 1.67 GHz (right)

Number of processors: 0 (WTF??)

Number of threads: 1 (what???)

Caché de nivel 2: 2 MB

Memoria: 2 GB

Velocidad del bus: 667 MHz

Versión de la ROM de arranque: BOOT.EFI.V80

Número de serie: CK157KMHK5B

My com.apple.Boot.plist says that (maybe it helps...):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>cpus=1</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>5</string>

</dict>

</plist>

anyone knows how to fix that. I don't want to do another installation... :)

Yeah I would remove the cpus=1 and try some other flags.

I just added a kernel flag to my collection of kernel flags here that might help you.

It is under the for hacked kernels only section and is for the total number of cpu's not for the number of cores. I bet that would help you out. See what it does for you.

Also I would try the netkas 9.2 SS kernel as that might provide you with a better performance. If your already using it all of the hacked kernel flags from the list above should work for you.

Thanks for the prompt replies!

I'm using vanilla kernel 9.2 because I think I read that these one is the most similar to the original leopard one and it was better for the software updates. Am I wrong?

I will try removing cpus=1 from that file. Should I write another thing instead of that?

How can I install the netkeas kernell and switch the boot to that kernel without reinstalling leopard?

Its a shame no one reads anything. All of your answers are on those pages. Kernel question answered on songs page. As for adding a different flag look at the flag list under flags for hacked kernels.

Excuse me but english isn't my mother tongue so when it goes to "technical language" I may don't understand or missunderstand things... :(

I read on song's page that he couldn't make speedstep work on 10.5.2 (the version i'm using), so I prefered to don't take any risk... but reading again I realised that I don't got speedstep anyway, I just have the battery level indicators! (Thanks for make me read it again :)

Regarding the flags matter, the thing is that I wan't to boot without strange things. I mean I want to boot it normally, without seeing the text messages (as -v do) and things like that.

I will try to change the flag 1st from cpus=1 to -v and if it doesn't work I will change the kernel... Hope it works... Do you think I still will be able to use software updates?

Thanks a lot!!!!

Sorry about my response. I keep running into a lot of people that dont seem to read stuff so thats why.

Anyway some of the kernel flags on my list only work with hacked kernels and that is why I suggested you get the hacked 9.2 SS kernel from netkas.

No matter what updates will always show up (when available) regardless of what hacked kernel or vanilla kernel is used.

Here is the rule of thumb. If you can run the vanilla kernel great. It will run when you update the kernel in the future and the apple updates wont kill your machine. So your protected by the ability to run the vanilla kernel always. Updates will work if they dont alter your other special kexts you have loaded. That is what you have to worry about really. Before you do any update come to insanelymac and see what others are saying about the update and weather its safe or not. Updates for applications are almost always safe.

Don't worry 00Diabolic, I understand your position :)

I think I have fixed it. I only replaced cpus=1 by -v and now it shows that?

I guess now it's ok... Am I right???

If it's ok I'll leave it like that. The only thing I really don't like is to see the text messages while booting...
