Sabr
Ok, I'm getting closer to installing 10.4.4, but everytime I type "-V" at the darwin boot prompt, it comes up with loads of segmentation errors... I've no idea how to fix it, and i've tried patching my own kernel, I've tried all the prepatched kernels and it doesn't work... How can I fix it? Sabr
No ideas at all? Does anyone know what exactly causes the segmentation faults in the first place? Somewhere
I get the same errors on my 3500+ when try to install 10.4.5. A lot of people are experiencing this problem. http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...mentation+fault http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...mentation+fault I see that you have 10.4.3 running natively. I'll try that version then. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10237-segmentation-fault/#findComment-63983 Share on other sites
Sabr
So does this mean the end for me? Does it mean I can only use 10.4.3, and not 10.4.4? There isn't actually a way to fix this problem? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10237-segmentation-fault/#findComment-64257 Share on other sites

hobolooter
SABR, no response doesn't mean yes. It means no response ;-). I can't help you hence, the no response. Maybe others can't either. Nothing's impossible, you may just have to wait. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10237-segmentation-fault/#findComment-64839 Share on other sites
jordanvanbergen
I have the same on my notebook. Today I tried the ghost image I downloaded on the second partition of my harddisc: osx.gho 1.357.207.151 bytes version and installing it using ghost worked flawless but booting is something else. I can boot from the HD, so I can select MAC OSX 10.4.4 and it starts loading. After reading I saw the following: This is an OSX 10.4.4 (OSX86) partition backup used Restore DVD then maxxuss patches (and tips). running on P4P800SE with intel P4 Prescott 2.8E used IONetworking.kext form 10.4.3 for 3com card to work Okay, so this one has been patched for the intel machines I assume. I changed the kernel version by using the prepatched kernels from maxxuss v1.0. I renamed the file mach_kernel.all_amd to mach_kernel and put this onto the root of the second hard disc overwriting the present mach_kernel using Mediafour MacDrive v6.08 on my booted windows machine. Now a new reboot to my hopefully working 10.4.4. version. Not sadly I saw a lot of segmentation faults and something about a USB device being disconnected every 5 seconds. This went on serveral minutes to the stage my notebook was going to fry. It became very very hot is smelt burned and it shut down itself. After waiting 10 minutes it booted thanks god windows again ;-) So no succes, segmentation faults errors and a frying hot notebook ;-( No luck for us AMD enthusiastics yet. Do you know of anyone with an AMD having luck on 10.4.4? Somewhere
I downloaded 10.4.3 from demon and it installed fine. The internet is working so I'm excited. jordanvanbergen
I'm using VMWare now. Mounting the 10.4.4 iso as an emulated DVD-rom and installed it through vmware, everything is installing and working. Before this I was using the GHOST image restore and that one gave me all the segmentation fault errors as reported by a lot of people. Sushant
Jordan, Could you please elaborate your procedure? I've been trying this (works fine on Intel) but gives me the segfaults on my AMD. I'm on VMWare (dont have a DVD Burner). My physical hard disk is configured for access (in Independent-Persistent mode).
