info-lcc Posted April 29, 2008 Share Posted April 29, 2008 hi everybody at this moment im running osx86 with a pentium d 925 so i think the cpu is to bad and old so i want to buy a new cpu first i thought tu buy a q6600 but ive seen that it is to old for a quad core so ive decided to spend 50 euro more and buye a quad core from the yorkfield series the q9300 then i thougt what is if the q9300 doesnt work with the vanilla kernel so im asking pls say if it work my system at this moment is intel pentium d 925 3ghz @ 3,76 ghz asrock 4 core dual sata 2 2 gb ram ddr 2 667 mhz 2 500 gb segate baracuda ide drives ati radeon x1600 pro 512 mb agp sound by 5.1 usb to audio adapter (like imic) from hervules usb mouse and keyboard 2 ide dvd dl drives and burner mfg info-lcc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102249-new-cpu-does-the-q9300-work-with-the-vanilla-kernel/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
slimp Posted May 1, 2008 Share Posted May 1, 2008 I have the 9300 working with vanilla kernel. The only issue I have is that osX is reporting 3mb L2 cache instead of 6mb, I hope there is some fix for this, but I havent researched it yet.
