I downloaded the Kalway 10.5.1 DVD.Burnt it on a disc and install it on a fresh Disc.Everything went well except when it boots up first time.I see the Apple sign and the spinning circle and then a no entry sign appears and it just hangs

My system specs are as follow

Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Sapphire HD2900XT

OCZ 2GB DDR 1150MHZ PC2-9200

SATA 2 320Gb Drive

Any help would be most welcome

when you boot and get the screen that counts down to allow you to enter command line options. Hit enter and add the following :

-v -x cpus=1

then see if that gets you in.

When you've made it you'll need to download Kalyway's 10.5.2 combo update and apply that to fix the CPU=1 so that it can recognize the multicore and you don't have to keep typing it in each time you boot. Oh yeah the -v is just so you can see what's happening during boot so you don't have to have that.
