The Xeon Quad Man
Just installed the Kalaway 10.5.2 update and netkas 9.2 kernel. Both worked, but boot times stink now. I noticed that the ComboUpdate came with some replacement kext files, do I copy these all over to the "Extensions" folder under System/Librarys? The ones I see are:AppleACPIPlatform AppleHDA AppleIntelCPUPowerMangement AppleLPC AppleSMBIOSIO ATAamily System etc.. can someone tell me which ones I need? update: one more question, kinda off topic, but is it STILL safe to install the "Leopard Graphics Update" from Apple Software Update? Well, I went ahead and replaced the system.kext file on my OS X install to the one from the Kalyway ComboUpdate. And now I get a Kernel Panic, guess that was not a good idea. Anyone know how to restore it to the old one? Or should I just reinstall everything over again? The Xeon Quad Man
So yeah, like I said before I updated the system.kext file and now I get a Kernel Panic. Any ideas? I tried the "-f" flag to fix it but it hangs on something for at least 10 minutes (i shut it off after that). I guess I gotta replace the system.kext file...but how? Enrico1985
I installed the Graphics Update and it seems to do no harm (it did me no good either) As for the KEXTs, I didn't update them and everything is working smoothly, so I suggest you leave the originals in place! if you have a backup of the System.kext you had before, you can boot in single user mode (by typing -s as the bootloader prompt) and copy the backup copy in /System/Library/Extensions if you don't I think you have to reinstall everything (or somehow get a working KEXT from somebody) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101879-just-updated-to-1052-and-92-kernel/#findComment-727067 Share on other sites
