New hardware, could you help me a bit?

Hi!

 

Trying to decide on which motherboard to go with. Could you please direct me the right way, as there seems to be {censored}loads of motherboards that work with this system already.

 

What I am looking for is at least 4 or more SATA connectors. I would also like to have firewire and dual GbitLAN. I was thinking about the Gigabyte EX38-DS4 motherboard. Would this be a good choice? Or some ASUS model perhaps?! I'm lost with the different options to choose from. I'd like one that works and has good connections.

 

Also I am thinking about the E6850 processor OR the Q9300 quad-core. I am anyway trying to get a cheap setup, so I don't really think I need the quad core. What do you guys think?

 

Also going for 4GB of ECC ram.

 

So, if you could recommend a good motherboard that would work and be a wise buy, I'd really appreciate it! All other tips are welcome too!
