antonbhc
I've tried without success to install FIVE different OS X versions on my T30 (JaS 10.4.6 / 10.4.8 / iATKOS v1.0ir2 / Kalyway 10.5.1 / ToH 10.5.1) and the problem I've noticed with all is that all seem to have a problem waking up from sleep. It's not so much the machine going into sleep as it can do that fine, but getting out of sleep causes the machine to do a hard reboot. I've worked backwards on the installs and yesterday loaded 10.4.6 on my machine and what do you know -- wake from sleep works but LCD doesn't turn off. This is because of the missing radeontool.kext and I haven't installed radeon drivers yet. Now after the install---machine doesn't come back from sleep. So I guess you could say that the problem with this particular machine has been isolated to the graphics card not being able to be reinitialized upon wake. I'd like to have sleep/wake functionality, but little issues like these are what keep myself (and possibly others) from being converts. Heck, I'm starting to like Vista! So I want to hear from you, fellow ThinkPad owners; have you had similar problems and if so, did you solve them? George Tall
Hi, I have a ThinkPad X60s on which I installed Kalyway 10.5.1 using MBR partitioning + EFI. Originally I could make my ThinkPad go to sleep, but when I tried to wake it up it rebooted and gave error with something like "Embedded security tampering detected." Then I tried this… Leopard Sleep Fix Now I can sleep/wake my Thinkpad, but only if it has been booted up off of battery power. If I do plug in the charger when it is awake, when I try to make it sleep then wake up again, I get the "Embedded security tampering" error again. Be sure to follow ALL of the instructions on the above sleep fix guide. Hope that helps. antonbhc
Thanks for the post. Actually, I read your post and: I was able to get QE working on the card (meaning that graphics acceleration works); but because using RadeonTool.kext turns off the LCD and (maybe) gives the system the calls it needs to fully sleep; I can presume that it might also cause a Kernel Panic and cause the system to reboot because it does not turn on the LCD. I've tried it all again from scratch and I've had no progress. Since my ThinkPad has no security chip, I couldn't blame it on that. But at least I know the reboot issue is related to the graphics card. For now, I am running 10.4.11 on the T30 with InsomniaX and ACPICPUThrottler. I guess you could call it my "holdover" solution.
