sleepkyng
Hi, I'm going to be building a computer for the first time and would like to try something that could be used as a hackintosh. I'm not totally computer illiterate and have fumbled around with laptops and pcs before. I was wondering if you could tell me what you think about this projected setup, it's a total budget pc, i'm trying to get it down as cheap as possible while still retaining some level of quality I'm ordering from New Egg but will be living in France, so transporting the setup is part of the reason I haven't selected a case and psu yet. it may be less of a hassle (though more expensive) to just get those things in France GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard $89.99 MSI NX8600GT-TD512EZ GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - $89.99 Intel Pentium E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E2180 - $69.99 pqi POWER Series 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model MAD42GUOE - 2 x $34.99 Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive 89.99 Update SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S203B $26.99 Subtotal: $436.93 thanks for the help, everyone! adrian Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101770-my-budget-hackintosh-list-input-please/ Share on other sites
UnaClocker
I had that ASRock motherboard. You'll be stuck running single core (CPUS=1) with it. I'd try to get a different board. I hear the ECS mATX board is good.. Boaz
As a former employee in a computer shop I would voice my opinion at using ECS. While they might be cheap, I saw a lot of Fry's customers coming in with dead ECS boards needing a replacement. AsRock and ASUS are very reliable but I have not done any work with the OSX on either. The CPU could be a lot cheaper if you want total budget. Grab the E1200 and overclock it. You can get around the same performance for half the cost. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819116064 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101770-my-budget-hackintosh-list-input-please/#findComment-726234 Share on other sites
