Jamezes
I have a P4 with SSE2 and PAE (but no XD or SSE3) and I have the image from "the demon". Can I install this without 10.4.3 or follow installation instructions on maxxuss' site? Koskun
I tried multiple times with that ISO, an no go each time. Till I got the patch (ppf) and applied it to the ISO. from there no problems on the install and boot into OSX. Jamezes
You mean the patch that can be found at his site? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10156-1044-restore-disc-33gb-patched-installation/#findComment-63449 Share on other sites
hdavy2002
I thought the damn thing was patched like the article says (10.4.4 Restore Disc (3.3gb patched) installation) I had no idea there was another patch for this. Is this patch for AMD or for intel. I have intel. Jamezes
The torrent says it was patched but many users seem to be having problems with it. The torrent's description said: This DVD HAS patches for: SSE2 OR SSE3 NX OR NO NX Intel Processors This DVD does NOT have patches for: AMD Processors. Koskun
Yup, same site I got the ISO from. The ISO is patched, but the disk image utility doesn't play nice with PC's. It seems that if you use the disk utility on that first ISO it sets the hard drive up to be seen by EFI. The patch is ppf, and there is a GUI for the program and is very easy to use. Patched the ISO and installed, even used the disk utility, and works like a dream (except for networking). Check the comments on that ISO torrent, second to last, and there is a link to the ppf fixer. about 140 mb. Jamezes
Thanks Koskun. I'm downloading right now. However, a few questions: 1. If I use that patch, do I still need Maxxuss' patches? 2. If I use that patch, do I still need OSX 10.4.3? If not, can/should I overwrite it? 3. Do I need to use Maxxuss' instructions or can I just install directly? Koskun
Well upon reading some of the issues here it may just be dependent on your hardware. On my Dell Ispiron 1100 laptop (celly w/SSE2) the patched (with the ppf) I just booted from it, installed fine, rebooted once the install finished, and loaded into OSX. I did not have to use any of the Maxxuss stuff. Also of note, the ppf patch seems to put in the AMD patch in the installer.
