iTunes doesn't respond to key inputs.

I have JAS 10.4.8 and I've soft-changed the version to 10.4.11 so I can install Safari 3 and the new iTunes. Everything is working OK, except iTunes doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard properly. I can't paste text into the search bar using "apple-v" I can't skip to the next track using the arrow keys, and most annoying: I can't pause the music or video using the space-bar.

 

My Machine:

Dell OptiPlex GX270

Pentium 4 3.0ghz HT

1 GB dual channel PC3200

AGP ATI Radeon 9800pro 128MB

Apple Pro Keyboard (black keys)

 

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one having this trouble, I've heard a similar report elsewhere, but I've found no solution as of yet.

 

Any ideas if there's some .kext I should be using from 10.4.11 or some other fix?
