PatrickHenryinVA
Trying to install the JaS AMD-Intel SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 on an eMachines T2245, Celeron 2.0 gHz on an Imperial GV mobo, with an ATI Rage Pro PCI video card. Installs fine, but on reboot the grey Apple loading creen seems to hang, but the HD keeps working and the intoductory Apple Tiger music starts and plays. I've triied reinstalling a couple of times, but the same hang-up occurs. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong, or is there a start-up key combo that might get me past the habging loading screen? Thanks! Note: I tried to install the Kalyway 10.5.1 distro, but the maching kept rebooting during the Darwin loading. Reveeen
http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/mother.../imperial.shtml Sadly, the best one of the lot seems to be the "Imperial G" board (with an AGP slot), which doesn't help you. Loose the PCI video card, it's older than the on-board, and is what is confusing your install. There is no support, as such, for either the on-board video, or the antique ATI card, but the VESA driver will display something with the on-board. If you had an AGP slot I would suggest you toss in a FX5200, but you don't have one, and there is no "real" auto disable of the on-board using a PCI video card, hence the confusion. I'll give up on the present configuration (Trying to install with the on-board graphics resulted in a greyed-out hard to see OSX). I have also been trying to install on another eMachines, a T3302. This one has an AGP slot, and I had picked up an FX5200 for about $16.00 on eBay for it. I was having the "waiting for root device" problem trying to install Leopard, figured out today that the HD was on the secondary IDE slot and the DVD drive was on the primary. Now both are on primary, and the install process works all the way to the end, when it says that it failed to install due to some problem. However, it did reboot into Leopard as long as I had the install disk in the DVD drive, and Leopard appeared to be working in almost every way! The entire network appeared in the finder, so ethernet port is good; software updates downloaded, it looked great, and pretty fast, too! The only issue I could see was that I did not have full control over screen resolutions, so I may have not loaded the proper driver (I used Nvinject 128). If I can stomp out these two bugs, it looks like I'll have a pretty capable Hackintosh. Then I'll probably get a replacement mobo for the T2245 that has at least an AGP slot, pickup another cheap GeForce FX 5200, and get that PC working with Tiger. Reveeen
I got my best luck with the "Natit Duel" driver for 5200 cards: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=32536&st=0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101494-emachines-t2245-tiger-install-issues/#findComment-724512 Share on other sites
PatrickHenryinVA
I got my best luck with the "Natit Duel" driver for 5200 cards: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=32536&st=0 I'll give that a try. I was able to successfully install JaS 10.4.8 to the T3302. Everything seemed to be working. However, after running Software Update, Darwin would endlessly reboot. Not sure how to fix it, but will probably try another Leopard install with different drivers selected. PatrickHenryinVA
My problem with Tiger and Software Update was that I let the machine update the OS to 10.4.9. It didn't work. So, I reinstalled and Tiger works beautifully. However, you are limited to older versions of iTunes with 10.4.8. So I'm planning to keep trying with some of the new Leopard installs.
