Hi all!

First I'd like to say THANKS to everyone on here that has been working on 10.4.3 update to 10.4.4, all of your advice to others on this forum were a great resource for me in getting the update to succeed.

Also thanks to Maxxuss for being awesome!

(I think 10.4.4 doesn't know that my CPU has SSE3, I had to apply the full on mach_kernel with all the patches on it.)

Anyway, after the update completed, I found my built in ethernet to be not working, so I did the copying of IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 volume, redid the kextcache, etc. and now all good.

Now the sound is gone, though it was working under 10.4.3. I'm assuming I'll need to (once again) copy another .kext from the working 10.4.3 install to the 10.4.4 for this one, but I'm not sure which one to copy. Would it be the AppleOnboardAudio.kext ?

Thanks for your help guys! :o

Edit: OK, I should have done this before, but it's a Realtek audio chipset. According to some website, it's the "Realtek ALC850 8 channel AC'97 audio codec" so I'm going to start poking around to see if I can answer my own question on the forums. If anyone can help, please do! Thanks again!

Says to copy AppleAC97Audio.kext from Darwin. By Darwin, I hope that means from the working 10.4.3 volume that I had... we'll see when I get a chance.

Yeah, it's the AppleAC97Audio.kext. Copy it from the /System/Library/Extensions folder. Good luck! :thumbsdown_anim:
