Hey I kinda stopped the OSX86 stuff a while ago because it was very unstable and unsupported, but clearly it's improved much and I'm interested in upgrading my 10.4.1 VMWare installation to 10.4.4 and then eventually to 10.4.5.

First of all, I have the 10.4.4 Install DVD almost done downloading, so consider me with it in my hands at the moment. How would I go by installing 10.4.4 on top of 10.4.1 without screwing up my patches (or how could I patch the DVD to work)? I have a Northwood SSE2 CPU btw.

Next, how would I upgrade safely to 10.4.5 with all the patches? Thanks!

Well, I was in the same boat as you, until I just screwed all the hassle and decided to download 10.4.3 aswell. Basically, when trying to install 10.4.4 from 10.4.1, it's hard (or was, until phb came up with a solution (untested by me, but it should work). You see, what happens is the 10.4.4 installation uses the 10.4.1 boot loader files, which are incompatible with 10.4.4.

Anyway, this is the topic I made about it, so go here and read the three pages (not much info on each page. The solution is on page 3, written by phb): http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=9350

Hope it works for you... :)
