mgrules
Hi there, first of all: thanks a lot for all the input and efforts to make OSX run on a pc. I have been messing around with this for weeks and it's a lot of fun, but ... with mixed results ... After several tiger installations (iatkos, etc.) which didn't work so well (no usb/audio, slow), I tried a leopard install with kalyway 10.5.2. Installation went smooth (but took 4hs!) and everything except audio is working great! BUT: it's reaaallly slow! The start up process takes ages and my Xbench results are embarrassing: Results 74.16 System Info Xbench Version 1.3 System Version 10.5.2 (9C7010) Physical RAM 1024 MB Model MacPro3,1 Drive Type WDC WD3200AAJB-00WGA0 WDC WD3200AAJB-00WGA0 CPU Test 64.57 GCD Loop 81.06 4.27 Mops/sec Floating Point Basic 69.02 1.64 Gflop/sec vecLib FFT 39.94 1.32 Gflop/sec Floating Point Library 99.12 17.26 Mops/sec Disk Test 3.59 Sequential 2.52 Uncached Write 2.12 1.30 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 2.15 1.22 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 4.09 1.20 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 2.47 1.24 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 6.24 Uncached Write 10.96 1.16 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 2.64 0.85 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 56.76 0.40 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 6.48 1.20 MB/sec [256K blocks] My specs are: ---------------------------- Intel Pentium D 2.67 MoBo: ASUS P5RD1-VM Chipset: ULi M1573 ATI Radeon 1900X GT 1GB RAM Harddrive: Western Digital EIDE (IDE-ATA interface?!) ---------------------------- I already tried to switch off AHCI in the Bios, but cannot find the option anywhere. I would really appreciate any help, because the slow performance is my last big issue on my way to a working osx86. Thanks a lot!
