Major trouble with Asus M2NPV-MX (nForce 430)

Hi,

I recently acquired the Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.1 image, but I have serious trouble to get it to work. Once I set up the partition scheme on my SATA HDD using fdisk so that it contains a 20GB AF-type partition, I cannot erase it using the Disk Utility. First, it stays at the "Preparing to erase" progress bar forever, next it gives up and shows an error about the underlying process that couldn't finish the task.

Oh, and my IDE HDD is not detected at all.

Also, I have an AMD x2 on the AM2 chipset.
