InflatableMouse Posted April 18, 2008 Share Posted April 18, 2008 I'd like to know if there is a laptop out there with wifi on which everything 'just works' with the kaliway or other 10.5 dvd out there. I don't mind if I have to update manually, I just don't want to fiddle around with 3rd party drivers for video or sound. I just want those to work out of the box. A laptop with PCMCIA interface (except Macs) can never be works-out-of-box. 3. A laptop with card reader interface can never be works-out-of-box. So my answer to your question is no. I was thinking of the following to be fully functional out of the box: Video with quartz/core image Sound including all in- and outputs functional gigabit ethernet wifi, preferably 802.11n but g will be fine too usb 2 ports touchpad (basic is fine, no need for gestures or multitouch) I don't mind fiddling around for the following to get it to work. Those are would-be-nice but I don't need it: bluetooth firewire 800 webcam built in memory card slots I absolutely don't need pcmcia or modem. I strongly prefer a core2duo and support for 4gb memory.
