Tr1ckY^DK
I installed OSx86 using VMWare on Windows, and it works just fine, except i cant make it go on the internet. I use DHCP, and it says that the cable is plugged in, but it doesn't have an ip address. How do i know which one to give it ? Also, the resolution only goes up to 1024x768, even if i use 1600x1200 or more in windows. Is there any way to get it to 1280x1024 ? EDiT: I'm using JaS 10.4.
yourdogsmom
I had a similar problem when installing my OS X 10.4.9, Its quite simple really, you need your windows (host os) to have an internet connection then set VMware to bridged i think, then set-up a an ethernet connection whilst inside your OS X, I think this creates some sort of virtual connection? but either way, it works. Tr1ckY^DK
VMWare is set to bridged, and Windows does of course have an internet connection But it stille doesn't work
clueless
I also HAD the same problem and this is how I fixed it. My hardware is a Dell Dimension 8400, running Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2 and all the latest updates from Microsoft. VMware Workstation version 6.0. OS X 10.4.8 Tiger Final KOTR I did my install in network host mode and installed the AMD patches. Under System preferences I selected 'Network' and clicked on the 'Configure...' button. 'Location:' shows 'Automatic'; 'Show:'Built-in Ethernet'. When I clicked on the 'Renew DHCP Lease' button and closed down the Network dialog box, went into Safari and it worked! I using this because I'm sick and tired of Windows XP and (especially) Internet Explorer 7) just hanging on me, so after being a die-hard PC user for almost 25 years I'm sick of Windows, so I'm 'test driving' a Mac. kreuzerkrieg
Well, got the same problem. I got RTL8139 at home and some intel (dont remember which exactly) at work At home, istalled clean vmware with Jas 10.4.8 and applied PCGenRTL8139Ethernet-1.2.0.zip from insanelymac forum, same result - the cable is unplugged I ran vmware using my real mac partition at home which doesnt have any networking problem, and voila I'm not connected to internet once again, conclusion - something wrong with vmware ethernet config My virtual machine config config.version = "8" virtualHW.version = "4" memsize = "1024" ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000" svga.autodetect = "TRUE" mks.keyboardFilter = "allow" displayName = "Mac OSX" guestOS = "freebsd" nvram = "Mac OSX.nvram" deploymentPlatform = "windows" tools.upgrade.policy = "useGlobal" scsi0.present = "TRUE" scsi0.virtualDev = "lsilogic" scsi0:0.present = "FALSE" scsi0:0.fileName = "Mac OSX.vmdk" ide0:0.present = "TRUE" ide0:0.fileName = "Mac OSX-0.vmdk" ide0:0.deviceType = "rawDisk" floppy0.present = "FALSE" usb.present = "TRUE" sound.present = "TRUE" sound.fileName = "-1" sound.autodetect = "TRUE" virtualHW.productCompatibility = "hosted" ide0:1.present = "FALSE" ide0:1.fileName = "Mac OSX.vmdk" paevm = "TRUE" isolation.tools.hgfs.disable = "TRUE" uuid.location = "56 4d ef 74 54 95 d3 b8-03 46 75 dd 49 17 a2 0a" uuid.bios = "56 4d ef 74 54 95 d3 b8-03 46 75 dd 49 17 a2 0a" ide0:1.redo = "" tools.remindInstall = "TRUE" ide0:0.autodetect = "TRUE" ethernet0.present = "TRUE" ethernet0.connectionType = "bridged" ethernet0.wakeOnPcktRcv = "FALSE" ethernet0.addressType = "generated" ethernet0.generatedAddress = "00:0c:29:17:a2:0a" ethernet0.generatedAddressOffset = "0" ide0:0.redo = "" ethernet0.vnet = "VMnet0"

nazor
Is there any way to get it to 1280x1024 ? open utilities >> terminal and copy-paste this linesudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist then type your password and insert this lines : <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280×1024×32</string> save it by pressing ctrl+O then exit by pressing ctrl+X, reboot if those line doesnt work, then try this line : <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>"Graphics Mode"="1280×1024×32"</string> save it by pressing ctrl+O then exit by pressing ctrl+X, reboot good luck
