HD x264 in .mkv container?

Is there anyway i can get this to work on an apple tv? or on a macbook running apple tv os? without re encoding the file?

I believe i used VLC to extract the media from the MKV without transcoding... try that.
Also, there is an app called iMKVExtract - I haven't tested it though.
Always search Google first, though.

can i extract it and then drop it into an mp4 container?

Vlc should handle that at once.

yeah i would appreciate it too, its truly a pain not being able to play hd vids from the net in from row or on the apple tv.
