munky
i suggest you go ahead and buy another 1Gb.... you need a 200-pin DDR-2 667Mhz (PC5300) SO-DIMM module. if you mean suggestions for manufacturer, i dunno.. i'm using PNY without problems. others will recommend corsair or kingston, i'd guess, but i dont think it matters too much. head
a question which fits here: i currently have 1,5 gb in my mbp... i´m thinking about switching the 512mb module against another 1gig-module... my questions: will this bring any noticeable effect? i´m working with many programs open all the time... do i have to choose a special ram to get "dual-channel" working? depending on the ram i allready got in there? i hope you understand.... munky
head: I have literally just done this - went from 1.5Gb on my 1.83Ghz Core Duo MBP to 2Gb. it DEFINITELY has a noticeable effect. i upgraded to my MBP from a 2Gb MacBook and was slightly disappointed that the MacBook had seemed faster. now i know why. also, my GeekBench score jumped from 150 to 160, so the dual-channel mode definitely yields an improvement. (geekbench is a highly-intensive cpu- and ram- performance benchmark).
