overdriver79
OK this is weird. INTRO: I have been on Sierra for more than 6 months. Everything was working smoothly but I fried my mobo (GA B85M-D3H). It was sent to Gigabyte's service and it came repaired. I plugged my SSD to my repaired card only to find out that I was unable to boot. Of course it was my mistake because while waiting for my motherboard I used another one temporarily, which lacked DVI so I was using the VGA input on my monitor. I was running Xubuntu from another HDD leaving my Sierra SSD unplugged. When I received my repaired one, I was so excited to finally boot back to my Hackintosh, that I connected both DVI and VGA cables... On top of that, my DVI cable was damaged, so my Sierra was outputting to VGA therefore it couldn't boot without dropping some injects. Being eager to have everything back, I took the decision to do a fresh install. THE WEIRD: When I finished the installation, I chose not to create an Apple account. Also, I used a new Clover config file with new Serial etc. App Store informs me that I have 3 updates available. "Big deal" I thought, probably a new version of iTunes etc. But one of the updates is about a very specific scientific program that I had installed before my new and fresh Sierra!!! On top of that, the email address I had used to create an Apple account in my previous install is already filled in! How is this possible? EDIT: I double checked my old and new Clover configs and the Serial number is the same on both files! So my question was answered. If any moderators read this, please lock it. chriz74
well, simply enough you "didn't create a new account" but you probably filled your appleId information in the last part of the installation process. Otherwise the data won't be there. Or you reinstalled the system on the same ssd without formatting it first.

Anyway, apparently because of the underlying algorithm, an automatic generation of a SMBios on the same machine will always give the same serial. chriz74
the serial alone is not going to have you logged in iCloud. Until you log in with your apple id the system won't find your software updates etc, so you must have entered the login info.

I have my day off tomorrow, I might try to make a new install just for the sake of it. I will report back. Cheers.
