nawcom
I saw that there are other HP models with similar specs running 10.7 without issues according to other forum posts. You can give 10.11 a try if you want. The specs for running 10.11 looks fine other than graphics which I'm unsure of. First thing you need to do is figure out the specific hardware you have in this laptop. Info HP's website isn't going to be enough. If you have Windows installed already there are a number of ways to get a list of your hardware specs and device IDs. I personally use SIV: http://rh-software.com/get the info from "PCI Bus" Nvidia GT 230m uses GT216 core which is a good thing. There are still drivers for that series installed in 10.11 but I couldn't tell you if you can get GT 230m working. You'll have to give it a try. You'll need to use a graphics injector for it - you can try using the built-in one in Clover, assuming you'll be using that as the bootloader: https://clover-wiki.zetam.org/configuration/graphics#graphics_inject_inject-nvidia Broadcom wifi - it all depends on what Broadcom chip is in the minipcie card you're using inside the laptop. Yours may or may not be supported. HP also has a whitelist on wireless cards that you can install in your laptop's minipcie slot so keep that in mind in case you have to swap yours out for a supported model. Realtek gigabit - it would help to know what the specific model is but there are a number of Realtek gigabit kexts to try out that support the RTL8111*/8168 models - for that I'd suggest Meize's kext: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/88-realtekrtl8111-binary/ JMicron card reader - there are a few kexts you can try out - JM38X.kext, IOSDHCIBlockDevice.kext. Google them. HD Audio - there is some support for a number of IDT codecs in AppleALC: https://github.com/vit9696/AppleALC/wiki/Supported-codecs you could also go the VoodooHDA route if yours isn't supported in AppleALC and you want an easy fix: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/314406-voodoohda-289/ DSDT - you'll no doubt have to patch it up as that's pretty common for laptops running OS X. Some additional support that's mandatory for laptops is PS/2 support so your keyboard and touchpad works. Try VoodooPS2Controller: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-voodoo-ps2-controller/downloads/RehabMan-Voodoo-2016-1208.zip- also note that you'll need to figure out what touchpad model your laptop has. If it's Synaptics then this will support it fine. You also need to install a kext in order to get your battery detected so you can monitor its status. Try ACPIBatteryManager.kext: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-acpi-battery-driver/downloads/RehabMan-Battery-2016-1118.zip How to install it all? Well I suggest using the createinstallmedia method + Clover for making a bootable USB: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/305255-making-a-10101011-usb-installer-w-clover-uefi-and-legacy-the-correct-way/for some reason he doesn't have his El Capitan page up but it's basically the same. Do you have access to a computer running OS X at the moment? If you don't there are ways of running an existing install of OS X in VMware that you'd be running in Windows. Google it. There are also other ways of getting it installed but they aren't something I personally support. If you're brand new to osx86 or new to fooling with unix-based OSes in general then you have much to learn Feel free to check out some other how-tos on how to install kexts in 10.11 via Clover, etc.

nawcom
Looks like you'll have issues with the Broadcom 43225. I did a quick search and it looks like it's not a compatible If you're up for replacing it with an 11n 300mbps card I know this will work without the need to modify anything (assuming you have the FixAirport_4000 enabled in Clover) you can get this: HP brand AR9280 https://www.amazon.com/ATHEROS-AR5BHB92-H-AR9280-Wireless-Pci-Express/dp/B009PX111U or find a cheaper one on eBay. Try to get one with the HP brand on it due to the whitelisting thing they do. There's a way to rebrand other ones to HP by modding the EEPROM but bleh why not skip a step.
