Incorrect Amount of Memory

Hi;

I installed 10.12 on HP Z800 Dual CPU with 2x4GB for each CPU. The total number of slots per CPU is 6, therefore the total is 12.

My system only detects 8GB (4x2) out of 16GB. I checked clover boot log and find out that it is only reading the slots and rams for CPU0 which make sense why I have 6 slots and 8GB in system info

  • 2 weeks later...

Same problem here, I have 2 workstations based on Supermicro motherboards with dual Xeon X5677 cpus.

One of my setup has 48Gb of memory but the system can detect only 24Gb. The other system has 16Gb (8x2Gb) but can detect only 8Gb.

I manually setup in Clover the 12 memory slots but it doesn't help... the system sees other slots empty.

I also have the annoying problem of the computer not shutting down fully (need to push the power button).

Dont Know about memory, but the not shutting down is probably to do with the RTC fix being needed, selected in Clover i think, My system used to the same, i upgraded my MOBO and its fine now, its never done it since.

Thanks for the advice, I tried the fix Shutdown and fix RTC but it didn't help :(

I guess we need to investigate more on Sierra because it's still a new OS.

About the memory problem, some people suggested to write manually in Clover config files where is the memory and the amount of each slot. I will try to do that asap and send a report to see if something change.

EDIT : After switching to Enoch bootloader (the same version and settings I was using for Mavericks) the memory problem is solved. Curious thing is in my activity monitor, my render in After effects only uses 1 CPU (8 threads) not 2 (16 threads)... but mac os detects well the 2 cpu. It can be an after effect related problem, but the second cpu seems to idle even though I'm using another app in the same time.
