edwar64896
I have a Yosemite based OSX box which has been rock solid for ages (over a year) No recent hardware or software changes however the computer hung today necessitating a reboot. (I was watching netflix at the time) Now, the machine lasts max 5 minutes before simply hanging. It's almost as if the processor just stops mid instruction. I have rebooted multiple times and am going to attempt some basic troubleshooting in safe mode if I can get there. Any thoughts and hints from more experienced users would be much appreciated. cheers, Mark.
WaldMeister
Hi, Can you post your system log? Should give some guidance to why it freezes.
edwar64896
Will post over the weekend as I would like to understand this better. Fortunately, an FSCK in single-user, a prelinked kernel rebuild and a once-over on the permissions with disk utility seems to have done the trick. The box is back to her old self again. thx, Mark. WaldMeister
FSCK did the trick i guess. Figures now, after the first freeze, the hard reboot currupted the HDD. Good to hear all is ok now.
