adam9c1
Hello. I'm a long time lurker. I have purchased a pre modded G5 case where the PSU sits on top (where the HDs were). The case already has the mobo tray. There is a cutout in the big tray (holding the optical drive) for a PSU fan. I'm in need of assistance in removing that big tray. Once the tray is removed I can install PSU and then the tray again. I have measured and my PSU will fit up there once I can get it in there (there is little extra room). I have searched this forum and google and I see people rip it out but I'm trying to preserve this piece. I have so far removed the screws holding the tray to the back piece (behind mobo). Thank you for your assistance! Basically this is the layout I'm looking for: [ Link removed - please see http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279451-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/ ] Edited January 9, 2015 by Mr.D. Razzle_Dazzle
It would help a lot if you can post an image of your optical drive bay, the tray takes some time to remove can be difficult so it is important to have patient. there will be some nuts on the back wall where the original AMD motherboard used to sit that holds the tray against the wall, on the other side will be the sliding latch that locks the side door to the case, under are some nuts as well both this will have to be removed. The hard part will be removing the tray itself. personal experience I believe once you get the slide to move into position it should then release
