eberardo pasquili-ausbergi Posted May 24, 2013 Share Posted May 24, 2013 Hi, I managed to install ideneb 1.4 ok, but if I don't disable usb2 support in bios, usb's are not recognized. There are so many posts about usb, and maybe I am just tired after several installations, so I can't find anything useful around... Please help, is there a troubleshooting howto? P4P800, I4 3Ghz GPU: geforce 6600 2 x 1Gb ram (on 1st and 3rd slot) primary IDE: master with 2 primary partitions (XP and MAC), + slave hd secondary IDE: master CDrom, slave DVDrom Soundblaster audigy platinum Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
3.14r2 Posted May 24, 2013 Share Posted May 24, 2013 Does the USB2 don't work at all, or just when you plug-in while PC is already booted up (does work if an USB device is plugged in before powering up the) PC? There would be an issue with USB is version of kernel is older then the system version itself. For instance a if kernel 10.5.6 is combined with system of 10.5.8. You have P4 (if I read the signature correctly), then for sure a patched kernel is used. Make sure the version of kernel used match the system version. Now I notice that if i revert to USB2 in BIOS, then I can't use my usb keyboard at all, neither to reconfigure the BIOS again. But I remember that they worked correctly under XP. Now I am logged with the USB1.1 keyboard. Versions are both 9.2.2 (uname -a, and system.kext->info). I have already tried this guide except point 2 (sorry not to have mentioned) http://www.insanelym...s-do-not-mount/ should I go with this "PCGENUSB2 problem" fix? eberardo pasquili-ausbergi Posted May 24, 2013 Author Share Posted May 24, 2013 Solved (crossing fingers): I changed the BIOS USB2 setting from "high-" to "full speed". AND I tried the other couple of USB ports (but I did that before! boh??) Now it works. 50ish Mbits... I am too happy to investigate whether the first or the second thing or both solved. 3.14r2 Posted May 25, 2013 Share Posted May 25, 2013 Full speed = USB 1.0 High speed = USB 2.0 Super speed = USB 3.0 Mega speed = USB 4.0 So basically your USB works like USB 1.0. Strange issue. Probably you could try using patched DSDT (though all Leopard installs I've ever had, worked without DSDT). About MB specs: you mean those in the BIOS settings?
