Hackintosh won't boot up - looking for help!

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. A few months ago I upgraded from 10.6.6 to 10.6.8 (I believe that was the versions) and me being an idiot at the time did it through Software Update in the OS.

 

When I rebooted it was stuck and I could not figure out why.

 

So months later, today, I actually am trying to figure out how I can fix this. It's been a while since I've messed around with a Hackintosh though and am just stuck at this point.

 

When I boot chameleon in -v mode, here is a screen shot of where it hangs.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? I do have one of those linux boot CD's so I can get into the file system and stuff and edit files and what not.

Well the problem is that I already did the update and am now in this stuck spot. I don't even know how to revert back to 10.6.6 if I can.

 

I don't remember what distro it was either, it's just been so long.

 

And I don't really want to format everything to do a clean install and lose everything, if I don't have to, because I have a dev environment already setup on there and don't want to lose things and had to set it all up again. I did already get all of my source code off though.

Ok,with linux open your mac partition and find System/Library/Extensions

Search for 2 kexts-SleepEnabler.kext and AppleHDA.kext and delete him(i'm not shuar to be Linux have access to Extension folder :wink2: )

Hmm okay I tried that but it is mounted in read only mode. I need to figure out how to mount it in read/write mode. Will try later I have to go do some stuff, thanks for the input!

Actually depending on how your Hackintosh drive is set up, you might not be able to access it through Ubuntu...

 

The image looks like it's NullCPUPowerManagement.... But in my experience, I get kernel panics on stuff like that, random stuff, but it's remedied with a new version of my kernel.

 

At least with my Hackintosh, I needed an updated version of my kernel for every new version of OS X. Is there a 10.6.8 or whatever version of your kernel? Use another OS X installation or Ubuntu/Linux to copy it over to the root, as you probably know.

I am having trouble mounting my Snow Leopard drive as read/write. It is only going to read-only in linux mint for me.

 

I am not sure how to go about doing this.

 

Also, I do not see a SleepEnabler.kext down in the System/Library/Extensions directory.

Okay so I figured out how I can rename kext files down in there using Paragon disk tools.

 

So I didn't see a SleepEnbaler.kext file, and I renamed the AppleHDA.kext file so that it wouldn't load them. I'm still getting the same error.

 

I also tried getting a newer IOPCIFamily.kext file and putting that in there, renaming the old one to .bak, and I'm still having no luck.

 

I do notice though if I use some flags at the command line of Chameleon, like pci=off npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=No that I do get further but then it hangs again. That was a suggestions I saw in another thread so I tried it but it is still hanging once I do that.

 

Any other suggestions?

So a little more information...

 

After tossing in some different command line arguments for pci=off, npci=0x3000 and GraphicsEnabler=No I ended up with a screen that was moving and then it ran fsck or something on my drive, and as I went to get a camera to take a pic of the screen it ended up erroring and this was the error screen.

Sorry for all these updates, but i finally had some success!

 

After removing the AppleHDA.kext file by renaming it to AppleHDA.kext.bak, and updating my IOPCIFamily.kext to the one linked here - http://myhack.sojuga...c.php?f=5&t=355

 

I booted chameleon with -v -x options for verbose and safe mode, and it actually booted up into OSX in safe mode!

 

Now I am not sure what I should do to fix my problems, and I'm scared to turn it off and never be able to get back there lol.

 

Any suggestions?

Hey, i got the same problem, i fixed it very very easy it's so simple you will need Pacifist (Free) and combo update (Also free):

1-Run Pacifist

2-Press Open Package

3-Choose the combo update's .pkg (you need to mount the dmg)

4-Then Press Contents of Manual

5-Press Install using Admin Priviliege

6-Wait (Extracting, Verifiying)

7-When you get to 'Replace the mach_kernel' don't replace it because this was the  problem it was updating mach_kernel

8-Update everything else

9-Reboot when you have done

10-Your Hackintosh should boot up normally

*:Pacifist is very useful to install packages and install them without update problem or compatibility

**:Be very patient because this process will take longer than updating simply

***:You need to do this process before updating

****:If you already updated normally, run installer, customize then install without formating your HD, when you done configuring, update as i told you.
