  1. I finally rescued my botched 10.6.8 OSX install on my 1545. I was coming from 10.6.6 and did a software update to get to 10.6.8, and after a struggle to get it to work it is now stable and boots up just fine with everything working, other than wireless. I've been searching for a kext to get it working on 10.6.8 but I have had no luck at all. Anyone have any ideas?
  2. So a little more information... After tossing in some different command line arguments for pci=off, npci=0x3000 and GraphicsEnabler=No I ended up with a screen that was moving and then it ran fsck or something on my drive, and as I went to get a camera to take a pic of the screen it ended up erroring and this was the error screen. http://i.imgur.com/KuAfB5G.jpg I only got that to happen once The following 2 are screens I can get fairly consistnely with different command line options. http://i.imgur.com/0BrEtPQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3DjxNWK.jpg Gonna see if I can google any of these to find some more informatoin. EDIT FOR SUCCESS!! Sorry for all these updates, but i finally had some success! After removing the AppleHDA.kext file by renaming it to AppleHDA.kext.bak, and updating my IOPCIFamily.kext to the one linked here - http://myhack.sojuga...c.php?f=5&t=355 I booted chameleon with -v -x options for verbose and safe mode, and it actually booted up into OSX in safe mode! Now I am not sure what I should do to fix my problems, and I'm scared to turn it off and never be able to get back there lol. Any suggestions?
  3. Okay so I figured out how I can rename kext files down in there using Paragon disk tools. So I didn't see a SleepEnbaler.kext file, and I renamed the AppleHDA.kext file so that it wouldn't load them. I'm still getting the same error. I also tried getting a newer IOPCIFamily.kext file and putting that in there, renaming the old one to .bak, and I'm still having no luck. I do notice though if I use some flags at the command line of Chameleon, like pci=off npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=No that I do get further but then it hangs again. That was a suggestions I saw in another thread so I tried it but it is still hanging once I do that. Any other suggestions?
  4. I am having trouble mounting my Snow Leopard drive as read/write. It is only going to read-only in linux mint for me. I am not sure how to go about doing this. Also, I do not see a SleepEnabler.kext down in the System/Library/Extensions directory.
  5. Hmm okay I tried that but it is mounted in read only mode. I need to figure out how to mount it in read/write mode. Will try later I have to go do some stuff, thanks for the input!
  6. Well the problem is that I already did the update and am now in this stuck spot. I don't even know how to revert back to 10.6.6 if I can. I don't remember what distro it was either, it's just been so long. And I don't really want to format everything to do a clean install and lose everything, if I don't have to, because I have a dev environment already setup on there and don't want to lose things and had to set it all up again. I did already get all of my source code off though.
  7. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. A few months ago I upgraded from 10.6.6 to 10.6.8 (I believe that was the versions) and me being an idiot at the time did it through Software Update in the OS. When I rebooted it was stuck and I could not figure out why. So months later, today, I actually am trying to figure out how I can fix this. It's been a while since I've messed around with a Hackintosh though and am just stuck at this point. When I boot chameleon in -v mode, here is a screen shot of where it hangs. http://i.imgur.com/dkLAS7T.jpg Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? I do have one of those linux boot CD's so I can get into the file system and stuff and edit files and what not. Thanks.
  8. I actually tried that heh and it didnt solve anything. I will try the one I had on 10.6.2 later tonight when I get home, if I can still find it heh.
  9. yea that was the driver that was working fine then stopped working it is in the state that it says the airport is off, and if i try to put it back on, it just doesn't work and stays forced to off.
  10. My wireless stopped working after I rebooted my machine a few days ago after installing something that let me move my app i devved over to my ipod touch. I tried reinstalling the kexts like 5x and rebooted afterwards and still no dice. I'm on 10.6.3 and it was working for over a month fine before this. Any ideas?
  11. Okay now after messing around with it a little more last night I have 2 questions... 1. I was reading this thread and some people are getting a random popping sound. I too am getting that using deviato's AppleHDA kext file. I was wondering if there is any fix for this. 2. I did not install any sleep type of kext at all. I don't like when my PC's go into sleep mode and shut down portions of the PC. However, I do want to be able to turn the display off. I have it set in my settings to turn the display off after 10 minutes, however, after 10 minutes, the screen does not turn off, and the screen just 'freezes'. If I move the mouse, it unfreezes however, so it's not a locked up machine or anything. Does anyone have suggestions?
  12. Well it worked last night with the retail OSX disc However the first time I tried I went through and was doing all of the EXTENSION kexts and when I got to the sleepEnabler one, it basically crashed everything then I rebooted and everything was foobar. So I tried again and when I got to the EXTENSION kexts again I only did the first 5 (the 5 before the SleepEnable one) and rebooted and it rebooted fine, however my keyboard/touchpad weren't working. So I now have to do it again heh. This time I'm going to do ALL of the EXTENSION kexts other than the SleepEnable one (there were like 2 VooDoo ones that I did not do, one was the PS2 one) and I'm hoping that will fix my issue heh.
  13. Hello. I am really new to this whole process and forums so please bare with me. I received my Dell Inspiron 1545 yesterday. Here are the specs. Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit 3 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (2 DIMMs) 250 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD 6 Cell Primary Battery Dell 1397 802.11B/G Wireless Mini Card Intel Pentium Dual Core T4400 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)Media Bay Last night I was trying to install OSX on there for about 3 hours with no success. I tried following the step by step tutorial for the 1545 on insanelymac.com, as well as on macyourpc here Boot-132 disk for Snow Leopard for Dell Inspiron 1525. | Mac Your PC I have tried using 3 different Boot132 discs - no wifi, wifi, and no extras, and they all produce the same results. I have tried with my hard drive completely formatted to NTFS, FAT32, and HFS+, and have no luck. When I boot the Boot132 disc with my HDD formatted at NTFS, when the chameleon loads up I see the CD image and the Windows NTFS partition image. At this point if I put in the Snow Leopard disc, and press Enter when the SL Boot132 is still on the screen, it will say "No Mach Kernel" found, then when it goes back to the screen with the icons, it now shows APPLE HFS as the name of the CD. However, when I press F5, I get some strange white line that goes accross the names of all of the icons, and I can no longer select the CD, just the Windows NTFS partition. When I try this same procedure when formatted in HFS+ and FAT32, it does not even show the partition at chameleon, only the CD icon. I cannot get it to ever change from SL Boot132 either. When I put in the SL disc then press F5, again, I get this strange white line that goes accross the names and that is it. I am waiting until the drive light is off after I put in the Snow Leopard disc. I am using a 10.6.2 retail ISO that a friend gave me, it is not a retail copy bought at the store, it is burnt on a DVD-DL disc. Since I am a complete noob to this I am not sure what to do here. Am I using a wrong disc? Does the 10.6.2 retail even work for this? If it doesn't I just thought it was strange that I could not even get to the installation and have it fail then. I went and bought an actual retail 10.6 disc from the Apple store just now on break so tonight I plan on messing around with that disc tonight, hopefully having that solve my problem, but if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know! Thanks!
