This hard drive was installed in my 2009 macbook pro which doesn't have the SATAIII connector but it still makes my computer amazingly fast compared to the old hard drive. The write speed comes in at 194mbps If your looking for a new hard drive I really recommend the 830 samsung series (the 840s just came out too).
