I've been playing around with a few kexts to get sound working with my Z Cinemas. At first, sound worked but I could change the volume. Then, all of a sudden, I could change volume. Now, again without warning, I can't change volume...
I don't have LegacyHDA, AppleHDA, VoodooHDA, or HDAenabler and my sound is working (can't change volume though.)
What? Don't I need an HDA kext for sound? I mean I can't change volume, but I couldn't when I had the other kexts (with the exception of VoodooHDA, I always get a kernel panics with voodoo).

No, not for a set of USB speakers you don't. They don't fall under the "Intel HD Audio" specification.
