Everytime I boot up my D430 [video gfx: GMA 950], my screen is extremely dim. And my function keys don't work.
I have to manually adjust the brightness through System Preferences > Display every time, which allows me to finally use the function keys and stop the flickering.
Is there any way to permanently configure my D430 to start at maximum brightness? I normally wouldn't mind adjusting the brightness myself, but this computer will be going to a very computer illiterate person so I want to keep any extraneous instructions to a minimum.

Open BIOS and turn the brightness up to full with the fn keys, then boot OS X.
This fixes the problem on the HP Probook 4530s so it might be worth a go.
