You will have to void your warranty

0) Whitelist/Flash your BIOS located @ http://www.bios-mods...val-Lenovo-Z570

1)Remove your Half mini pci-e Wifi (Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN) and replace it with a Atheros AR9285

2) While your in there loosen your HD screw because you will need to install chameleon bootloader externally. pop the cover back on, but not tighten the screws For now your done with the Lenovo.....

3) Now make sure you have an extra 8gb USB Drive....On a seperate MAC OSX system with the program "SHOW/HIDE" all files installed (Can be installed from the Multibeast program under the Software tab)....I'd suggest you go with the USB Unibeast installation route, Make sure you replace Unibeast's two files with the Nawcoms MBR patch (Unibeast won't install to MBR)

4)Now go back to your Lenovo and plug in the USB and proceed to bootup. Make sure USB is selected as first bootup from BIOS. Once Unibeast is booted up you will need to format your 750gb to MBR (very important) 2 Partitions oSX Extended/Fat32 (if you want a Dual boot configuration) and name your partitions in Disk Utility.

5) Install (Should take about 20 mins) When it asks you to reboot choose reboot and when it starts up choose your HD that you named it

6) When you boot up the first time after install you will need a USB Keyboard and possible USB mouse to finish with the Installation process. I'd suggest you have another extra USB drive for multibeast and make sure you install the PS keyboard/mouse kext from within multibeast.

Once your able to boot up fine from within the USB Unibeast way...Lets take you away from booting up that way.

You must now remove your HD from the Lenovo. You must have some way for another mac to be able to see your Lenovo's HD as an external HD on that particular MAC. Pay attention to what you named it as you will need the Chameleon Bootloader to be able to be installed to it.

Find the manually install Package for Chameleon. Download that package. Also you want to make sure that you have Chameleon Wizard installed on this other working mac. Inside the Chameleon manual install package you will see a i386 folder with 4 files inside (i think boot0 boot0hfs, booth1 etc...) Now load up Chameleon Wizard and choose "Folder on Disk".  Choose boot0hfs is selected and select that same file from the manual install i386 folder. Now eject and put back the HD in the Lenovo

6) You will not have sound but look in the notebook section of this forum under the B570 and download alot of his kext files. He claims they work for our laptops, but that is why I want to redo a video, but I have such a great system going i'm almost afraid to re do all over again because of the time.

7)Update with the 10.7.2 combo update found online and it must be in dmg format.

Working all!!!

Just No Card Reader!

2-03-2012
Updated to 10.7.3 via the Software Update. I got a KP with the IntelCPUpowerMgmt.kext. I deleted this kext in both the S/L/E and E/E and no more KP's. Running 10.7.3 perfectly fine.

2-13-2012
Added modified Voodoohda 2.7.2 & you must have the (1c20 8086) This gets rid of the Larsen Effect for our laptop. Also mic is 100% working. Also added a patched DSDT.aml for the Core i7. Now enjoying a full working laptop.

you need to format the drive as master boot record for it to boot off the hard drive. you have to modify the installer drive. same computer and thats what i had to do

I did it..thxs Had to use the MBR patch  and redo my install with unibeast then remove HD and use an external USB to sata to install Chimera. SOB! thats was a learning experience. It seems like all of us with the Lenovo card readers are having issues. Sorry for not making that clear.

How are your hackintosh skills? If this is your first time doing an install in any laptop then i'd prefer you read a little more on install issues. Also if your ready to void your warranty and know how to remove your WIFI Card and replace with a Athreos 9285, but first you must know how to whiteflash your bios after you've done that then leave a response with proof. I posted a link above for your whiteflashed BIOS courtesy of Bios-Mod.com

Hi mate, I'm planning on doing exactly what you did, since I've got your same notebook (same specs and all).
I've already build and setup previous hakintoshes units (my desktop where im writing this from is actually one of them) so I do have a bit of experience on this matter, however I would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction on how to proceed in order to get this done the easiest and most effective way possible.

I have already done the Bios whitelist flash... and also swapped the wifi card for the atheros one... so I guess im ready to go...

If you could please share your experience, or what you did to get it running I would be really thankful, just so to have a guide to help me through the process...

Anyway... I thanks in advance and have a merry christmas!!

Cheers,

Bruce

I will be doing a video soon on install..looks like I may have to reinstall for my fellow z570 users.

Curious if a moderator can move this thread to "laptop" section. I would really appreciate it.

I'm trying to install Lion following this guide on to my Z570.
I have successfully created USB stick with Lion installer, but when I boot from it, it automatically restarts, so I even can't see first installation screen (lang selection).

I will try to make screen photo during -v booting, but it reboots too fast ...

You write "...steal those two kexts...", please share your kexts, because it is unclear what kexts should I put into /E/E and /S/L/E.

you must..i repeat must partition your drive to MBR format (within disk utility). It will not boot in GUID format. and the kexts you must steal are the mouse/keyboard from either multibeast or unibeast. Just go with the unibeast installation and once it completes plug in a usb mouse and keyboard and once multibeast is able to be ran install the PS keyboard/mouse kext. Good luck

updated guide. Old guide was crap. Wish the old guide didn't get quoted by other members.

Wow, not many laptops get to be almost 100% compatible with mac os x, so congratulations !

was wondering (hope im not makin a fool of myself)

if someone would have a laptop just like yours, and you would make a ghost image of your whole hard drive (drive snapshot) with the whole system installed etc., wouldnt be possible to make that image, upload it on a torrent or something ?

im thinking , if the image would be about 16 gb, it could be copied on an usb stick, boot ghost with dvd (there is a version which allows booting ghost from dvd), and applying the image you made on my hdd. Of course, i would have to whitelist my bios and install the atheros wifi card first, then apply the image.

Shouldn't this render a lion install, complete with kext and everyhing ? ( as long as the laptop im applyin the image on is identical to yours)

Wow and what is in it for me? It will be extremely time consuming and alot of work. If you follow my guide and you know a little about hackintosh's then all of this will seem really easy. So far i've completed 3 projects and will be tackling on another. If this guide seems to hard you can always get a OSX Distro, but i'll stop at that word. Good Luck!

you can never waste my time. It's a extreme learning experience and trust me you can pat yourself on the back when it gets completed. it's not hard at all and if your prepared to tackle this i'm sure we are all here for you. Just do more reading and when your confident enough format that HD.

Hey guys, I recently started the project of getting hackintosh on my Lenovo Z570.

After days of messing around with it, I eventually got to where I am now.
First of all, it is essential you flash your bios and change out your wlan card. I did use the bios update linked on this thread.

This is basically how I got my dual boot system to work:

Installed lion with pre-made hackintosh DVD. (It's slow, have to hit keyboard halfway in installation or it will freeze. I assume it's a sleep function.)
Using the lion installation, I installed unibeast to a flash drive. Patched unibeast with nawcom's mbr patch.
What I did after that was install windows 7 to a partition I setup with gparted on Parted Magic, leaving room for soon to be mac os x partition.
I reinstalled mac os x lion with unibeast on the second partition, you need the MBR patch to do it.
Booted into lion with unibeast drive. Installed 10.7.2 Combo Update DMG, then Multibeast BEFORE restarting. On multibeast, I checked the following:
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Disk -> 3rdParty eSATA
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> ElliotForceLegacyRTC
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> EvOreboot
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> FakeSMC
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> FakeSMC Plugins -> Motherboard Plugins
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> IOUSBFamily Rollback
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> NullCPUPowerManagement
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> USB 3.0 - NEC..
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> PS/2 Keyboard/Mice (Will be replaced in a sec)
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Miscellaneous -> AppleRTC Patch for CMOS
* Drivers and bootloaders -> Bootloaders -> Chimera v1.7.0 r1394
* Customization -> Themes -> Chameleon RC5 Default
* OSx86 Software

I also copy the Extensions folder from the unibeast usb Extra folder to Lion HDD's Extra folder.
I needed to do this to get my wifi kext working on the atheros ar9285

I replace the trackpad and wifi kexts with these I found online (OSx86.net) that worked for me:
http://www.mediafire...e3px22mj874y5jj
You'll also need to find voodoo battery for lion. (Add to /S/L/E)

For sound, we need the voodoohda prefpane installed to /Library/PrefrencePanes
as well as the VoodooHDA 2.7.3 kext.

Download VoodooHDA Launcher from http://code.google.c.../downloads/list
As well as the VoodooHDA Launcher Patcher

Install VoodooLauncher, then patch it with the VoodooPatcher and the VoodooHDA 2.7.3 kext.
Go to System Preferences (Apple in top left) then to Users + Groups -> Login Items
Remove the voodoolauncher default startup item with the minus. Add a new login item with the plus and add the voodolauncher application directly (if you want) then click the box to hide it.

Lastly, remove AppleHDA.kext (back it up if you want) from /S/L/E

Restart with the 10.7.2 Combo Update window (that should still be open)

That should get everything working (Besides card reader). It worked for me.

Too boot off of the hard drive, download chameleon rc4 (google it) grab the boot1h file from the package, and put it on a spare flash drive. Download and burn Parted Magic to an iso and boot it. Run parted -l from terminal and find your mac os x partition Mine was /dev/sda partition 2 so, /dev/sda2

Insert your usb drive with boot1h. Open file manager and find it on the left hand menu. It should be /media/sdb or similiar
cd to whatever path it is (for example "cd /media/sdb")
Then run ls and make sure you see the boot1h file.

Lastly, run this command replacing /dev/sda2 with your mac os x partition path.

dd if=boot1h of=/dev/sda2 bs=4096

You should be able to boot from the hard drive now into both windows 7 and an almost 100% compatible mac os x lion installation. Enjoy.

This is what I did and it works for me. I cannot guarantee it will work for you, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Woot!!! Thanks Sean for the trackpad/sound drivers. How is sleep working for you? I seem to lose wi-fi upon a wake-up, but I just end up turning off/on back the wi-fi to re-enable it. And a Great How-to better than mine, but lets hope it helps other fellow hackintosh's with our same setup.

The reason I used voodoolauncher is to avoid the KP that VoodooHDA randomly throws on boot.

But to answer your question, my sleep doesn't wake up if the laptop lid is closed when it goes to sleep. Otherwise, it works just fine.. don't have to re-enable wifi or anything. It is because of this that I have disabled sleep all together, instead using the fn + f2 key combination to turn off the display when I want to conserve power. Either that, or I shut down my system.

If someone could find a fix for this + the card reader (which is 0139 dev id.. sadly), then we'd have a completely functional system.

EDIT: and yeah, I could write a better how-to.. just thought I'd throw out what I did as a guideline to someone who intends on installing os x lion on the lenovo z570.

YOUR HOW-TO IS PERFECTLY FINE...sorry for the caps. If you visit the B570 topic located here http://www.insanelym...howtopic=269586 he has a kext for our sleep problems and my sleep works perfectly fine except for the wifi problem that I have. Obviously you didn't use a modified dsdt so I won't even ask if you created one. And as far as the Voodoo is concerned I just used the Sound/2.7.2 from Multibeast. BTW is your mic on or not working. I seem to have that issue with either 2.7.2/2.7.3

And a way to avoid the KP on bootup is to delete Applehda after your 10.7.2 upgrade. So no need for the launcher.

My mic is working. Deleting AppleHDA kext only fixes the KP that happens 100% of the time. Even with it deleted, I was still getting a KP around 30% of the time.. always happening randomly. This problem is not unique to me, as hundreds of others who use VoodooHDA have the random KP issue as well. I do not have a dsdt, seems time consuming learning how to make/patch it.. especially when I don't really need it. I will look into the sleep kext on the B570 topic you linked to, thanks.

EDIT: SleepEnabler works perfectly. I don't have to re-enable the wifi.. it just works on wake. Thanks!

Only thing I need working now is the card reader, which probably won't be figured out by anyone in a while.
