willpower101
Lol, hey jazzyguy! Yeah tonymac has a pretty active community despite the misleading size of insanely mac. (I've been a member of insanely since the good ol days.) It's true that people can't seem to shut up about the probook. Hardware matches very nicely with an actual macbook. iBofter
Awesome! Will any HP ProBook work with Lion?
willpower101
at least the 14 and 15 inch versions 4530s. I Don't think anyone has created a dsdt.aml for the 17" version yet but it should be possible. People recommend the hd 3000 instead of the upgraded video card because optimus switching on pc's work via a single bus and macs have two separate bus's that you can't replicate in the dsdt. Also the 3000 is easier on batter life and in all honesty, the radeon 6490m isn't that much more powerful. here's the wiki page for the latest lion and it contains a link to the thread. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...s#ProBook_4530s

PunkNugget
I know this is an older thread, but I'm seriously considering on getting the best PC laptop out there that can handle the best CPU, GPU & Most RAM it can handle (32GB) and make it into a Hackintosh. Is there a way to do that with a Sager P170EM (that's their top-of-the-line (TOTL) laptop), and by far the cost effective one that be maxed out. Any suggestions would be great, unless ugokind's suggestion for the Asus G53 is the next to best thing out there that can be used for a Hackie laptop that actually works, thanks...
Hugo_bee
hy my g53 is not the best.. obviously it fit 99% as weel as an original mac. but I've changed the BT and the wifi. because I loke to open the chassis an put the best possible! anyway: Sager P170EM.. I never looked at this lappie. what I discover: what I'm sure it don't work: the wifi is a combo card.. BT never run the VGA is similar to newer macbook pro ! bu to run it Ou have to wait (or contribute) to google code Chameleon trunk to inject the proper vga code when the bootloader is loading ! and the 9in1 card reader.. what is the chipset? a lot of laptops cannot read that! in the end.. not less important in my list.: the audio: I cannot read what chipset is it! You have to discover it! GO to a store where you can find it or search for the real device name: example: Realtek 269.. etc.. because the device name tell you if you will hear a sound or not! in a HackBook the most problem are in the audio board. and there's not enought mac driver to fit all the devices.. mac osx can read a few devices. and if you don't know what device is.. you'll probably be sad. spending months to run and to realize that is a good model but without use skype etc..
