I decided to try and get OS X Lion running on an Asus X53E Laptop and, as the Laptop is fairly recent I noticed that there was no help on the topic, so I thought I'd document my progress here.

Specifications:

Chipset: Sandy Bridge

CPU: Intel i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz

GPU: Intel HD 3000 (Screen: 15" 1366x768 + HDMI + VGA)

RAM: 6GB DDR3 1333MHz

HDD: WDC WD6400BPVT-80HXZT1 600 GB

ODD: MAT{censored}A DVD-RAM UJ8A0ASW

Ethernet: Atheros AR8151

WiFi: Realtek RTL8188CE

Touchpad: Synaptics

Audio: Realtek ALC269

Method:

BaseSystem.dmg (In InstallESD.dmg) -> 8GB USB Stick

Remove Packages symlink from the USB Stick, copy Packages folder into symlink location.

Copy mach_kernel and boot.efi from InstallESD.dmg to USB stick.

Install Chameleon (included) to USB stick. (Note: latest Chameleon build is required.)

Replace OSInstall files on the USB stick for MBR install. (Google it.)

I have used the following kexts in order to get a working install:

In /Extra/Extensions:

AtherosL1cEthernet.kext

FakeSMC.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext (DSDT fix was unsuccessful.)

In /System/Library/Extensions:

AppleACPIPlatform.kext (For Battery)

VoodooBattery.kext (For Battery)

VoodooHDA.kext (Modified for ALC269 Audio)

VoodooPS2Controller.kext (Only works in /S/L/E, if loaded in /E/E the trackpad is not recognised.)

DSDT fixes:

Fixed restart on lid close.

Fixed HD 3000. (Still requires latest Chameleon. w/ GraphicsEnabler.)

Working:

Graphics - QE/CI & Native Resolution. (Sometimes get lines across Applications.)

Audio

Ethernet

Keyboard/Mouse (With Horizontal & Vertical scrolling.)

USB

Battery

Webcam (Upside down, can be corrected w/ iGlasses.)

Restart

Not Working

WiFi (No driver anywhere.)

Sleep (Black screen, sleepEnabler causes panic.)

Shutdown (Fails to power off after CPU_HALT)

Attached is a package with all Kexts, DSDT, Chameleon, boot.plist, smbios.plist and a full System Hardware report dumped from Everest.

Following a similar install procedure here with the X53E although I have yet to upgrade the ram. I was thinking of using the half size dell 1397 to get the wifi operational as they are inexpensive on ebay. I have not managed to get ethernet operating except by using a macbook air usb-ethernet adapter. Early days yet as I have had very little time to play with it.
