ellysium Posted September 17, 2011 Share Posted September 17, 2011 I am using a five or six year old PC Loaded iAtkos i5 successfully in fact I was even able to update the OS and add a couple of applications. But when I tried to reboot the computer after update it refused to, saying that it was unable to as it would damage my CPU. Can anyone help me to get past this point without damaging my computer. Rhapa Posted September 17, 2011 Share Posted September 17, 2011 Did you updated Leopard using the Software Update.app? If you did the problem might be incompatible kexts that sure weren't updated. I don't understand how iAtakos works but it maybe was using a custom kernel that once lost won't work with the kext that you have in your S/L/E. iAtakos is a custom version of the retail OS X so you can't just simple update it directly from Apple. To do so you would have to have installed a retail installation, which is more usable since everything that's happening under the OS are at you knowledge and if something goes wrong you know exactly what you did to make that happen (well, often you do). Take a photo of your screen with the error that appear booting in verbose. Now you can try booting in safe mode and update the chache of kexts (sort of verify them) so you can manage any kext that may be causing the problem.
