ol2003
Hello together, I want to upgrade my system... but don´t really know what should I do? Thinking about a OCZ Vertex 2 240GB SSD or an i7 970. What do you think about. As you can see in sig I am using atm i7 920@3,6GHz and 2x 1TB WD-1001FALS Would be nice to see your thoughts. cheers
3.14r2
I'd opt for SSD. The CPU you have now, is more then sufficient for most tasks and you probably will not gain that much from CPU upgrade. As faster CPU is needed only on "heavy" tasks, while SSD would increase read/write speed even on non-intensive tasks. Therefore I see SSD as better option for overall system performance increase. Alessandro17
It is a bit like asking: "shall I buy a Ferrari or a Rolls Royce?" So the answer can only be a matter of personal taste. Personally I'd buy the Core i7-970. I am not totally convinced by the SSDs. I'd rather buy one of the "great traditional" HDDs, like the WD Caviar Black (or, of course, a VelociRaptor, but I am not convinced if it is good value for money, people who know a lot more than I do think not).
