mark_in_2k
Hey DSDT experts. I've read, re-read and tried to understand DSDT editing but it's beyond me! Can someone give me some pointers on editing my Dell Vostro 3550 DSDT.aml (download here). I've been spoilt by my desktop hackintosh and it's DSDT which didn't need any editing. Any help is much appreciated
MaLd0n
dsdt.mark_in_2k.zip if you use VoodooHDA, use AppleHDADisabler in S/L/E
mark_in_2k
Wow, thanks for the fast reply MaLd0n! I've attempted to combo update to 10.6.8 after installing retail SL but it's not working out as good as I'd hoped. I used #####, with your DSDT. The update works fine, but on reboot I'm getting some errors and can't make it to the desktop. I've tried -x without success. It seems to hang on ALPSGlide trackpad so I have that to figure out. mark_in_2k
can u post how did u get Vostro 3550 installed ? No problem. It's still a work in progress, but thanks to Maldon and his edited DSDT, it's getting easier! Use latest version of #####. Once ##### has loaded, switch the disc to SL Retail, press F5 to refresh the disc in the drive, then select SL Retail and enter -v before pressing Enter. Install SL on the partition of your choice. Restart after the install and re-insert the ##### disc. This time select your hard disk installation of SL, again using -v Run through the SL setup screens before getting to the desktop. Download Combo Update 10.6.6 and the latest ##### and copy your dsdt.aml onto the desktop. Reboot into safemode using -x -v Once loaded, delete kext IOPlatformPlugin.kext (this maybe optional but I always got a kernel panic when trying to combo update). Run myfix (Google for it) and let it repair permissions, caches, etc. Run your 10.6.6 combo update. Once finished, DON'T restart. Run ##### and select UserDSDT install. This was all I chose to get the basics running first. Repair permissions with myfix. For some reason I have a lot of problems using Multibeasts kext repair scripts under "System Utiliies". It always fails so I use myfix. Reboot with ##### in the drive still and then choose your SL install. You should now be at 10.6.6 Things that work: Ethernet USB ports (not tested the USB3 port) Webcam Card reader Not working: Sound almost works, but it crackly (not played with any kexts yet) Wifi QE/CI or native resolution (that may work with 10.6.8) Not tested Touchpad (have a mouse connected) HDMI / VGA out
