1. Ah, didn't realize that, thanks for the info. I'll give it a go this weekend.
2. Looks good. I'm going to attempt this on my Dell Vostro 3550 i7.
3. I had this same problem on my Dell Vostro 3550 (I used this guide as the hardware is similar). What I do though is create a seperate partition and install a basic SL 10.6.3 with no edits. Then I create another partition for a 10.6.8 install. This way, if I need to copy any kexts, repair permissions, etc to my 10.6.8 SL I do it all from my basic 10.6.3 install. Makes things a lot simpler. Anyway, like I said I had the same issue as you with "PCI Configuration begin" so I booted into my 10.6.3 istall, copied my backed up appleacpiplatform.kext to my 10.6.8 install, repaired permissions, and my Vostro now boots nicely into 10.6.8 with native resolution and QE/CI.
4. I had the same problem and used a different USB port. I actually unplugged while stuck on "waiting for root device", used another port, and it continued to boot up.
5. Dell Vostro 3550 - need help with DSDT

No problem. It's still a work in progress, but thanks to Maldon and his edited DSDT, it's getting easier! Use latest version of #####. Once ##### has loaded, switch the disc to SL Retail, press F5 to refresh the disc in the drive, then select SL Retail and enter -v before pressing Enter. Install SL on the partition of your choice. Restart after the install and re-insert the ##### disc. This time select your hard disk installation of SL, again using -v Run through the SL setup screens before getting to the desktop. Download Combo Update 10.6.6 and the latest ##### and copy your dsdt.aml onto the desktop. Reboot into safemode using -x -v Once loaded, delete kext IOPlatformPlugin.kext (this maybe optional but I always got a kernel panic when trying to combo update). Run myfix (Google for it) and let it repair permissions, caches, etc. Run your 10.6.6 combo update. Once finished, DON'T restart. Run ##### and select UserDSDT install. This was all I chose to get the basics running first. Repair permissions with myfix. For some reason I have a lot of problems using Multibeasts kext repair scripts under "System Utiliies". It always fails so I use myfix. Reboot with ##### in the drive still and then choose your SL install. You should now be at 10.6.6 Things that work: Ethernet USB ports (not tested the USB3 port) Webcam Card reader Not working: Sound almost works, but it crackly (not played with any kexts yet) Wifi QE/CI or native resolution (that may work with 10.6.8) Not tested Touchpad (have a mouse connected) HDMI / VGA out
6. Dell Vostro 3550 - need help with DSDT

Wow, thanks for the fast reply MaLd0n! I've attempted to combo update to 10.6.8 after installing retail SL but it's not working out as good as I'd hoped. I used #####, with your DSDT. The update works fine, but on reboot I'm getting some errors and can't make it to the desktop. I've tried -x without success. It seems to hang on ALPSGlide trackpad so I have that to figure out.
7. Dell Vostro 3550 - need help with DSDT

Hey DSDT experts. I've read, re-read and tried to understand DSDT editing but it's beyond me! Can someone give me some pointers on editing my Dell Vostro 3550 DSDT.aml (download here). I've been spoilt by my desktop hackintosh and it's DSDT which didn't need any editing. Any help is much appreciated
8. dell inspiron N7010 ATI HD 5470 working

You mean that ALL the effects are now working, such as ripple effect, Spotlight search bar, DVD Player, etc?
9. I had the same problems with my install when attempting to update to 10.6.7 What I did was make a note of the kernel panic. In my case it was a kext mentioned in the KP. So, I re-installed SL from DVD, booted into safe/su mode and delete the offending kext. Then repaired permissions. Rebooted back into safemode and installed 10.6.7 combo update.
10. Acer 3820tg osx

I used this thread to retail SL running on my 3820TG. Start with post number 3.
11. Thanks for this guide. I used it successfully to install SL 10.6.7 on my 3820TG (basically the same as the 4820TG but with a 13" screen and ATi 5470 Mobility GPU). I was wondering if anyone has successfully got QE/CI working yet? I found this thread that uses the ATi kexts from Lion which natively supports ATi 5000 GPU's. The injector works from the Extra folder and there's no need for GPU BIOS dumps. I'm going to give it a try tonight.
12. Mobility HD5470 QE/CI !

Yes, you're correct is saying it should be <key> and then <string> I had the same error "Ati card posted, reading VBIOS from legacy space". I managed to boot using Nawcom's boot CD instead, but didn't have my 5470 setup correctly. I have to try again this week.
13. Guide To Enable HD 5450 In 10.6.6 + Lion + Mountian Lion

Can anyone report on this working?
14. I'm having a hard time updating my ##### Retail install Snow Leopard to 10.6.6 via the combo update. Basically, I keep getting a KP at the end of the combo update install in IOPlatformFamilyPlugin.kext (specifically applesmcpdrc). I thought I would try to remove the kext from the 10.6.6 pkg file using Pacifist, but it doesn't let me delete kexts, only install them. Is there another program that will let me delete the kext from the pkg file?
15. theStevo 4.5 Patch Released

I got a good deal on an official Apple USB Ethernet adapter which is supposed to be for the Mac Book Air, but works without installing any kexts on my system. There are a few more out there. Take a look at this site which tells you how to get an adapter working. It's really easy.
