While dual booting to windows x version, is wear but it happened to me every time I had to press always the auto adjust option on the monitor because the screen position was change, before I was on My default system OS X 2. For this topic asking for help: Resolution Issue Let me inform you that, I had that problem too but thanks God jejeje I was able to fix it. For some reasons Snow Leopard is just detecting that resolution that for windows is an standar 1366x768 and mostly of the other OS Like linux and others jejeje. By reading a lot of things about configuration and passing over the manual of my monitor that is fully supported on Mac OS X, I noticed that Mac OS X handles the resolution in other way, I mean with different numbers. What I want to exactly say is that you wont never, ever will get that specific resolution... BUUUUUTTTT surprise!!! That Is because Snow leopard does not have support for or Mac OS X does not count the "Numbers 6 on the resolutions" They are just taking 0s, 4s, and 8s. What does that mean, well that means that the resolution that you can achieve is 1368x768 which is the perfect and correct one if we are talking about 13xxX768 ranges or any other which has a 6 on the first field or range of a resolution. So after my explain let me start how did I solved. And what you will need 1. First if you have Windows jajaja in another partition which I think almost all of us have one because you know, I'm not going to go trough that topic now. *You need to put the resolution 1366x768 on your windows partition and apply the auto adjust option of your monitor (This is for you to get the correct and exact values for the resolution that we'll use) 2. After you have changed your resolution on Windows, you can boot on OS X and apply the last resolution you have, which will be 1360x768 and you will notice that the screen is a little moved. (That is because your monitor is properly configured but OS X hasn't detected yet the correct resolution. 3. We are going to create the a custom resolution that in this case will be 1368x768 for your monitor with a App, called: "SwitchResX" you can find it on google install it I know it is paid but you'll get 15 days trial and you can use it for the porpoises that we will need , but here you will decided to (buy) the App you understand that , or just use it for this tutorial because if you finish this and you want to have your system without running another daemons in the background you may complete the steps. And let your system as if OS X is detecting the resolution by itself and without any pref panel. 4. Ok, so after you installed that soft. on your system pref. you will see the switch resx preference and you can do somethings with it but but you need to see on the last option which is going to have the name of your monitor you don't have to install anything else about just the preference app. 5. You will see the option Export EDID, which are the settings that your monitor is running. You will see something like this: 6. Ok Here is the thing, on the Switch Res X app. yo need to find under your monitor option which is called, custom resolution, and the bottom you'll see a + sign to add the new one, at that point the app is going to take the current of your system, but if you try to enter on the fields 1366x768 you just cant. because of my previous explanation. So you need to enter the before I said "1368x768" because that is how OS X works. Now you need to have your EDID file besides the Res X App and copy the values that is asking, of course after you have entered the resolution mentioned. Here is something important: You just need to change this values the horizontal and vertical ones: -Active -Front Porch -Sync width -Back Porch Why just those??? Because the pixel clock is adjusted automatically by the app so just leave the one that it has, and also the scan rates are placed automatically. 7. You'll press OK and the app is going to save the resolution you made on your Resolution system preferences. You just need to restart your computer and you will see it, here you need to see the option to apply the changes on the app, because since I made all this steps the system is recognizing it, without making changes so I can't see the apply button, sorry jejeje but you will see it. 8. After you restart your computer, you can open System preferences and Screens and you will see under the last one that you had, "1360x768" = "1368x768" and you can apply it and it will change. At this point if you hadn't apply the auto adjust option of your monitor before you will notice that the screen now it's placed properly on the correct position. You can then now press auto adjust, just fix the last pixels of the new resolution. 9. At this point you will be happy because the resolution changed to the perfect one jejeje, but if you are like me and other users, you may want to have your system as cleanest as you can. So let's take a look on about my mac and under the graphics option you will see that it says: Monitor something about Swicht res X monitor something. For me that's ugly so I went into the deep to see what exactly the app did or what was modified. So I found it. First take a look on the switch res x pref and under the title you will see the vendor: Name on mine is SAM - 4C2D and on product 632. 10. Ok now you need to navigate to this address: /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/ Inside you will find some folders with DisplayVendorID and some numbers so take a look of yours go inside of the folder and you will find Display product ID again look your on the before app. Here you will need a tool to open .plist files IE "Plistedit Pro", so let's copy your one on the desktop and open it. at the end of the file you are going to see something like dspc, and that's exactly what the app changed or add in fact. I may say that is a kind of code that the system reeds to detect the resolution that we made so there is exactly your resolution jejeje. You can try to delete that string, but before that I recommend you to change the resolution to a lower one because after you reboot to see the changes the system wont boot because is not going to find the resolution deleted, and this is for you to see that, that string is your resolution. Because after you delete it you wont see the desire resolution on the System pref, screen option. These next steps are up to you, since you have achieved what you want, this steps are just to tune up the system. 11. This is the next step, We are going to delete then the custom resolution we made before from the app by pressing restore factory settings so it is going to tell you that the custom resolution are going to be deleted. So let's continue and apply the changes restart your computer and again you wont see the custom resolution we made since the settings were deleted. But!!!! Now you can uninstall the app with any Utility like Appzaper or something to clean up the system. 12. Now you can take a copy of the file for your monitor and replace it with the one on /System/Library/Displays/Override ! Choosing your Vendor ID folder and pasting it there. So the system is going to replace it. You need to restart the system, "Whit out changing the resolution yet because, it hasn't recognize the changes" So let's restart it out. And just then you need to open your System pref, screen and Wuala""", you should see the custom resolution made to choose from, you can apply it. And ready to see your about my mac option and you will see the correct values for your monitor under the graphics option you will see something like this which is mine: So, sorry for so long tutorial but it was needed.
