A Couple Questions

I have a couple of questions. I have Snow Leopard set up with everything but I have a couple problems that are kind of bothering me. First off, how can I set a login prompt, because now it just boots into the system and doesn't ask for a password. Second, is there a possible way to run it at a widescreen resolutions. I am now running it in 1600x1200 but I would like to run it at 1440x900 like in Windows since it looks crisper. Third, every time I launch GarageBand, I get kind of like a GUI kernel panic. Everything freezes and a little weird thing goes over my mouse on the initializing screen. No errors or kernel panics are shown and I have to restart the computer by holding down the power button.

Thanks a lot for any help.

For the login prompt go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Options and you can set auto login to off.

For the resolutions, it depends on if you can use system prefs to change resolutions. If you can, go to System Preferences>Displays and see if you can select 1440x900. If only one or two are there, your graphics card might not be installed right. The easy way to check is to see if the menu bar is transparent, if it is, that most likely means it's working.

I'm not sure about Garageband though, it might be graphics related. Can you post a picture of what happens when you launch Garageband?

Hope this helps!

Umm so for the graphics. I have installed the proper kexts and I am running with QE/CI enabled and I have many resolution choices in system preferences but they are all 4:3 and not 16:10. For the GarageBand thing I will post a picture with my phone later but I think it might be related to my sound card because I receive the same type of error when I try to open the input menu for sound in SystemPrefs.
