Wizi
Hello! I recently bought a nice MacBook Air that came with a install USB stick with Mac OS X 10.6 and iLife '11 on it. As you perhaps already know it can't be used on other Macintoshes to install the OS from it because it's not a retail version. So my question is do you you think it's possible to hack it and remove the part of the install process where it checks the hardware of the Macintosh if it's the last version of Air or not? In other words to "convert" it to a retail version. The only thing I found on the internet was this site but unfortunately it doesn't seams to work with 10.6. Thank you in advance! Onixs
1.Open OSInstall.mpkg using Flat Package Editor 2. Extract Distribution file 3. Edit Distribution file with textedit and look for the following strings.. <installation-check script="installCheckScript()"/> <volume-check script="volCheckScript()"/> 4. Delete those or Change it to... <installation-check script=""/> <volume-check script=""/> 5. Open again OSInstall.mpkg and replace the old Distribution file with the new one, then save it. Wizi
Sounds perfect but I just can't find the "Distribution file".... After I open the OSInstall.mpkg with Pacifist I get some "Distribution.strings" files but nothing interesting in there... Am I looking at the right place? Thanks in advance!
