  1. The only reason I bought an "old" (Early 2011) MBP 15" was the ability to install 10.6. I'll keep it that way until at least one of my very favorite program ask for update that is 10.7+ only I hate Apple for being M$ minded and cutting support for older hardware.

    iLenovo G550

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could share me those precious links from the first post since http://ilenovo-g550.ultrahostinguk.co.uk/ looks to be dead!? Thanks a million in advance!
  3. Hi there! Sorry if there is already a thread about this problem but I couldn't find one.... So here's the deal: a new MacBook Pro 15" from early 2011 has received a nice SSD upgrade but since I didn't want to loose disk space I've moved the original HDD where the optical drive was. Everything works just fine until I tried to install Windows 7 via Boot camp on the HDD. The assistant has offered me to split the drive into two partitions and asked me to put in the original W7 DVD which I did using external CD-ROM drive. Nothing unusual in here as well. Unfortunately the Windows setup won't even start - I'm stuck at a black screen with absolutely nothing more happening. From what I read so far the problem is that the Mac is trying to find the optical drive the the right place and so if it doesn't everything stops. It some how prevent installing from external optical drive. I was wondering if I clone a working Windows 7 partition from another similar MacBook Pro to my already created Boot camp partition that could solve my problem as well. Any ideas at all? Thanks in advance!
  4. Sounds perfect but I just can't find the "Distribution file".... After I open the OSInstall.mpkg with Pacifist I get some "Distribution.strings" files but nothing interesting in there... Am I looking at the right place? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello! I recently bought a nice MacBook Air that came with a install USB stick with Mac OS X 10.6 and iLife '11 on it. As you perhaps already know it can't be used on other Macintoshes to install the OS from it because it's not a retail version. So my question is do you you think it's possible to hack it and remove the part of the install process where it checks the hardware of the Macintosh if it's the last version of Air or not? In other words to "convert" it to a retail version. The only thing I found on the internet was this site but unfortunately it doesn't seams to work with 10.6. Thank you in advance!

    airport kext from 10.5?

Yeap, it works! Replace the AppleAirPort.kext with the one from 10.5 (don't remove the AppleAirPort2.kext despite 10.5 don't have it), correct the permissions and reboot. Enjoy MUCH stronger WiFi reception!!!
  7. Hello everybody. I'm using a nice PowerBook G4 and I had to downgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.4.11 because I of lack of free space on my new 32GB SSD that I recently bought. The only thing thought that I really miss is the better AirPort connectivity that I had with 10.5.8 and so I'm wondering if things can be changed if I simply replace the kext files with those from 10.5.8 on my 10.4.11? Thanks in advance!!!
  8. Hello, I was wondering if someone could give me info regarding the displays that the MacBook Pro's (old and new unibody models) are using if they are S-IPS, S-PVA, MVA or perhaps TN? Is there difference between 15" and 17" models aswell? Thank you!

    MacBook Air SuperDrive

Sorry for bringing this dusty thread to live but I was wondering if someone still has the company name and part number of this $9 chip because the direct buy link posted above seems to be broken!? Thank you in advance! Andy

  11. So let me see if I got you right: Symantec Antivirus (for example) for Macintosh need to supply me with daily windows virus definition updates so I can keep my Windows friends safe when sending emails/exchanging data? Sweet!
  12. The design is far better than what my 8 years old sister is capable of, though. But than still why would I buy this "thing" when HTC already give me phone like the Diamond Pro for example with all the cool features you can do with your fingers dragging on the display and the full QWERTY keyboard + the killing design? :censored2:
