2 HDD question

ok looks weird but i format my osx partition alot of times (to test new releases or becouse i mess with it)

 

i got now a old maxtor 160GB sata ready for hackintosh , can i use it just to install audio appz like logic and ableton with my vst/au there? and leave the old partition just for the main OSX?

 

if i format the OSX partition then install osx again the software already installed in the other HDD will work? or is just like in windows i have to install all again with the original setup files?

Mate too many confusing questions but Ill try to respond.

 

You only can install software applications on the main and running HDD / OSX. Therefore any VSTi or AU too as they run inside your host.

 

About formatting drives gets a bit more confusing but if you mean that the first question was "you could use another HDD for your applications" then no mate the only thing you can do is have your main OSX running on one HDD with every single APP installation then use your second as audio/library which means having all your host projects folders where you will save all audio for each of them.

 

Libraries should be on a third if you wish. Much better tho.

 

Backup also prevents a lot of headaches.
