ni7ewing
I have been working on the project in all my available spare (and work) time and so far am just getting myself more and more confused by reading the forums. I would like to post a few simple questions I could use answers to after I explain my situation. It seems I've successfully installed Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on my machine (stats below). The installation went right through the customization and partition creations and onto the 'Install Success' screen then reboots the machine. I take out the disc and let it try to start up in (using -v and a straight boot) I either get a couple pages of code followed by the famous panic from SleepEnabler or a grey(ish) screen with the apple logo in the middle (no mouse or loading indicator). It sits on either until I manually reboot. I've been told that I need to delete or remove the SleepEnabler kext. I have no idea how to do that. And the forums I've been reading aren't helping. Is there a simple 'how to' for that? I downloaded MacDrive for Windows but can't make heads or tails of it (yet) QUESTIONS 1. Would a LiveCD allow me browse the Hackintosh hard disk to system/library/extensions 2. Is MacDrive for Windows used only for dual boot machines? 2. I have an ##### Supported disc, my installer seems to do the same things. Do I need to keep it? 3. Can I assume the Snow Leopard install worked properly, and it's just a kext issue? 4. Can I install from a 8gig USB stick as opposed to wasting discs all the time if I have to reinstall? I'm almost tempted to go home and try to reformat the machine again. Here's the tutorial I used the first/last time here Thanks Gang! CPU - Intel i5 650 MoBo - MSI H55-P31 HD - 1T (formatted as a 50gig Primary & 880gig for stuff) RAM - 4gig DDR2(I think) Graphics - GT220 (HDMI to monitor) keyboard and mouse connected via USB. J.B
Answers 1. Yes 2. Macdrive allows windows to read/write to HFS+ (OSX) partitions (using it you can do the same thing you want to do as with the liveCD) 3. ? 4. Most likely, you can only know after you have tried to fix the KP 5. Yes, there are plenty of guides, search around, the basic idea is to use disk utility in a working OSX environment to make an image of your RETAIL VANILLA install disc, simply restore it to a formatted USB drive
