Y2J2K
I just installed Windows XP Pro in Parallels on my Hackintosh and am having trouble with Windows Updates. It is saying I don't have a Genuine copy of Windows (which I do) so therefore I can't get updates. Anyone else having this issue?
gwprod12
Were you able to go through the activation process?
Y2J2K
I don't believe it went completely through. As I recall (was working on this late last night), an error came up and said that an unknown event cause WGA not to complete. Did I do something wrong in configuring it? gwprod12
Probably the activation software couldnt access your hardware (you're emulating). I've never encountered this in VMWare, but then, I dont believe in paying for software. If you cant activate, you cant convince windows update that you have a legitimate copy of windows. It sucks, I know.

riverguy79
I had this same problem in Parallels. You have to go directly to the Windows Genuine Whatever page and run the validation program directly from there. Once you do that, you can use Windows Updates. The web page is: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/whyValidate.aspx Just to be safe, when you are done, reboot Windows. Chris
