gwprod12, not really. I mean i spent, approx 1400$ on my Dell 700m (In India.)

Config is 1.73 GHz, 512 MB Ram, Intel 855, 60 GB HDD, 12.1inch LCD, DVD-CDRW

For approx 1400$(In India) I can get a MacBook which is faster, as light, a bit (1 Inch ) bigger.

Serouisly even spending $1299 on a Mac Desktop is not bad.

I built my bros desktop for 1100$ (July 05) which has a 3.4 AMD 64, ASUS A8NE, 6600GT, 17inch CRT, Keyboard, Mouse, Antec Lanboy, 1GB Ram, DVD writer

For 200$ more, i get a Core Duo, a sweet 17inch screen and a X1600 which is more or less equal to a 6600 GT. Also, it looks 10 Times better and takes 1/20th the space.

Of course a cheap hackintosh will come for 500-600$, but ne one who wants a quality machine for a bit of gaming needs to spend atleast a 1000$

Yes, macs are expensive. But most people only see the price tag, they don't consider, things like building material, bundled software (iLife anyone), industrial design, and in laptops how thin and light are.

When you compare a Mac with a pc of similar specs, but that are also carefully designed, they are very closely priced, for example a MBP compared to a fashionable sony vaio.

If you only care about the technical specs, maybe Macs aren't for you (nor the iPod)
