terramir Posted September 24, 2009 Share Posted September 24, 2009 Okies I finally got my rtl 8187 usb wifi adapter to work and since I already installed the 10.6.1 update (I downloaded as a full package with my main) I tried software update. While it was installing it it had finished installing(remotedesktopupdate and itunes9) and was optimizing the system the fan got real loud and then it hard shutdown, I'm thinking that the power management kext is to blame people have said it can run the cpu up to 10C hotter, I rebooted and everything seems fine. However I would like to remove the appleintelpowermanagement.kext and replace it with the voodoospeedstep for sl if possible. If someone could walk me through that so I don't screw up this working install (especially cause I got wifi now) I would appreciate it. terramir Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
