I need to install 10.6 on my vaio from my external HD as my dvd drive is not working any more

Have looked for a guide and did not find one. Have been out of the OSX86 loop for a while.

Back to being a noob I guess

If you have OS X already installed on a computer you can "restore" the Snow Leopard DMG to the external drive (formated HFS+).  That should do it.

Sadly, I don't know a method for non-OS X installs.

but how do I get the external hard drive to boot after I restore?

have never been able to get an external HD to show up when I F9 after restart.

I am running leo 10.4 on my hackintosh

install chameleon & netkas boot file & and other kexts to a flash drive, boot with that flash drive and select your SL installation disk from the chameleon boot menu

Thanks , will give it a go. I'm new to chameleon,  netkas boot file ect. Need to read up on them, will let you know WHEN not if I need more help LOL
