masri01
Hi Insanelymac Members, I just finished installing iATKOS v7 10.5.7 and I have multiple problems which I listed at the bottom of this thread. My problems: Sometimes my acer 5738g wont bootup properly to iATKOS, so I have to reboot until it successfully boots iATKOS. EDIT: Fixed using rockingturtles guide :create a file "com.apple.Boot.plist" under /Extra folder and paste the following contents into it <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"><plist version="1.0"><dict><key>USBBusFix</key><string>Yes</string></dict></plist> Intel 5100 WiFi doesn't work. Not sure if there would be a kext for it in the future. Sometimes the trackpad and keyboard don't work, so I have to reboot iATKOS. EDIT: It's been fixed, thanks to razvizion!. Make sure you pick Voodoo PS/2 + Trackpad. Also these are the packages that I select during the installation: Chameleon 2 DSDT patch Apple Decrypt Voodoo Battery SMBBIOS EFI AIR Disabler Both the packages for GT200 & EVGA, You would also need to download XDarwin Nvidia Installer v1.1: Download Here. You would also have to pick Nvidia 9 Series & EFI during the installation. Intel Speedstep - Voodoo Power Intel SATA/IDE - ICHX Sound - Voodoo HDA PS/2 Apple driver, Didn't work I picked Voodoo PS/2 + Trackpad Instead! So far there is no Intel 5100 WiFi and not sure if there ever will be a kext for it.
razvizion
For trackpad and keyboard problem i suggest to use Voodoo PS2 for my 5930g works great. I had the same problem, USB keyboard worked at each boot, but not that on ps2.

I had the same problem, USB keyboard worked at each boot, but not that on ps2. Sweet! Thanks a lot man! Now all I need to fix is the boot-up problem, it might be DSDT related, probably doesn't read my AHCI properly! but I might be wrong, I have no experience with DSDT. If anyone knows a solutions to my boot-up problem, please let me know ASAP! Once again thanks razvizion it worked!

masri01
it doesn't work for me i tried every ps2 i had on dvd it doesn't work Really? Hmm, I installed Voodoo PS/2 Trackpad kext and it worked perfectly for me.. What notebook you using? Also I would like to thank rockingturtle, I can now boot properly instead of rebooting many times just to get into OSX. You have to create a file "com.apple.Boot.plist" under /Extra folder and paste the following contents into it <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>USBBusFix</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist> This will fix the boot problem. Also wireless isn't a big deal, today I went past a electronics store and picked up a Netgear WG111v2 using RTL8185L drivers from realtek.

rockingturtle
Awesome Dude ! Acer 5738G seems to be a very nice platform for OSX, even the webcam works out of box ! How is the performance compared to other hackintoshes and Mac Books? I get the following scores: Xbench : 110 GeekBench : 3184 (or something) -Rock

bgr
Thanks guys, it's working on my Acer 5738ZG, ethernet works too! Just one question, does sleep work for you? Mine kind of hangs, goes to black but doesn't go into off state, and then I can't resume it and have to hold power button to shut down completely. (it didn't work before I installed ethernet kext either)

Delphy
I just wanted to say thanks to all in this thread. Using the guide posted, I have OS X on my Aspire 5738G working with sound, ethernet and graphics! I had to install it slightly differently - selecting both GT200 during the iATKOS install ended up in a blue screen after boot. So I instead left these unchecked and simply installed the XDarwin as linked, and everything seems to be fine.
rockingturtle
Any progress on the sleep front and any luck with Safe sleep (Hibernation) -Rock Voila sleep works now ! Install the VoodooUSBEHCI.kext from superhai VoodooUSBEHCI and that should do. Sounds is working fine after wake up along with other USB devices. The only issue is my belkin USB wireless connector fails to work after wake up. Any thoughts here.... Any idea how to force unload and reload the kexts for USB? (the normal kextunload on zydas kexts fails). - Rock

bgr
5738zg might have a fault, there are slots on the bottom intended for ventilation but there are no holes even in the manual it says "Do not cover or obstruct the opening of the fan." I don't really know if those holes should be open, I guess they knew what they were doing. Nevertheless, I knew about that before I bought it, it didn't bother me since I won't play games on it. I just tried Call of Duty 4 to check the temperatures and it didn't seem to have any problems after ~45minutes, temperatures were gpu:75C cpu:56C. rockingturtle
Heating is not an issue on this work horse, works magnificently. Battery however drains out pretty quickly... I guess around 1 to 1.5 hours types max. -Rock 5738zg might have a fault, there are slots on the bottom intended for ventilation but there are no holes even in the manual it says "Do not cover or obstruct the opening of the fan."
