Macbook Pro Damaged due to Theft

Hi Guys,

My first post here after nearly 20 days of getting myself a 15"MBP.

I'd like to share with you what happened on the night of Thursday 23rd July.

This happened in Malaysia at a place called Kota Damansara just 15 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur...

While doing some work/surfing at a cafe, a dude comes into the place and orders iced tea to go... while 'waiting' for his tea, he comes near to me and has the nerve to ask me whether I'm enjoying my food...

At this moment, intuition tells me that this dude is about to do something real bad real soon.

And BAM! He snatches my MBP from me and runs out of the cafe to his partner in crime waiting for him on their motorbike.

To which I chase him to his bike and somehow manage to tug both him and his partner to the tarmac ground, causing both them and bike to fall. And this is when I realize that the MBP is crushed between him and the ground.

I grab the MBP, shout "I'm CALLING THE COPS!" repeatedly causing the dude to run leaving his partner with me. Now this fella wants his bike back, and manages to kick me in the chest! But now since I've been shouting bloody mary, people nearby are already running to us causing this fella to run away leaving his bike behind...

Fast forward>

After done reporting this incident to the police, I went to the local reseller Machines.com.my to get my MBP fixed. BTW, this baby suffers from dents all over the edges, scratches on the surface, and a maligned cover.

SO, I know that apple does not cover damage done by self. BUT this is a brand new laptop, and the damage is not by self but is caused by theft. So after Machines tells me that they cant do a thing about this case, they kindly advised me to call the apple call centre, which I did.

30 minutes on the phone...

And this kind person on the phone tells me that what I can do is to send the police report I did to the apple centre in Sydney. I've yet to do this, but will do so very soon...

Have any of you guys experienced a similar e.g. macbook gets stolen or damage and you get a replacement/fixing?

Thanks!
